Brainstorming - Scotland
How would you suggest Scotland go about scoring more tries, or indeed win matches.
Prize for the most original, but don't get excited it's not money or anything useful, just the honour.

This would probably count as cheating, but if they had special boots with springs hidden in them that they could activate with a code word, they could leap right over the opposition defence and land over the tryline. The problem would be getting the range right or they could end up in the crowd behind the posts.

Not as much of a problem in Murrayfield, perhaps that's why the in goal there is so large - it all starts to make sense.

Field a backline consisting entirely of scrum halves where Scotland seem to have a profusion of quality.
Persuade James Hook to play in the centre for any team that they play against so he can just drop off tackles.
Get Parks to aim for the posts with wingers charging up for the rebound.

Select centres who can run and pass at the same time?

Re: Brainstorming - Scotland
I must admit, I'm a bit puzzled by the lack of tries, the Scottish backs are quite good and do cause chaos with their running - but is it that they run FROM support too much - can you remember Dan Luger? - he used to punch holes in defences but then go off like a runaway train, get himself totally isolated and turned over. And given the intensity your loosies put into the breakdown its a big ask for them to make the tackle, win the ball, fight off the oppositions pack and then run across the pitch to get to the next tackle in the middle of nowhere.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

How can you select something which doesn't exist?

put freshly cooked haggis in a bum-bag, attach bum bag to Lamont and next time he breaks the gain line (helped by opposition running away from foul smell of haggis) he will have half the entire team hot on his heels.

Get Murray to ask god to wind forward the clock so time dilates so match finishes on 77th min, thus negating any need to score ourselves. ?

That's a good one alive. But what if that means OCD man Parks can't follow all of his pre match routines?

Start the game 80 minutes before the opposition arrive at the stadium?

Re: Brainstorming - Scotland
Make the pitch 5m shorter. They only have problems with that last 5m.
Or, give them all glasses that make it seem like the try line is 5m further away than it really is. When they inevitably fall short, they will actually have scored tries! If you do that, they may set the record for most tries in one calendar year.

Tilt earths axis 45 degrees, re-aligning the backs running lines towards the try line and away from the corner flags !

What on earth makes you think they could run in tries unopposed?

Its easy. Stop kicking the blxxdy thing. The number of times the backs kicked it instead of trying to draw and pass or beat a man or just take the tackle and set up a ruck and trust your loosies to win the ball.

I believe Scotland has 38000 players...the solution is clear. They should all start and the gameplan should be 'keep it tight'

Play Evans at outside half - he has a Welsh sounding name, it might just work.

Re: Brainstorming - Scotland
Play 5 inside centres. That negates the need for the 12 to run and pass at the same time. No team will expect this!

Stand outside Twickenham and intercept the queue of islanders walking through the doors.
