Munster v Ospreys Saturday 08/10/11
First topic message reminder :
Thomond Park, Kick Off: 7:30pm. Live on RTÉ Two from 7:15pm & S4C from 7:15pm.
This should be a very exciting fixture. Having dipped to second place in the table after their defeat last week to Edinburgh, Munster will be looking to reclaim the top spot. The Ospreys will not only want to retain poll position, but also their unblemished winning record in this competition. It's going to be a tough challenge for them away in Thomond Park, and Munster will want to ensure they get a good home win to move back up.

Deasy on for Hurley as a blood sub I think, but there's only five minutes left so he won't be back I don't think. Munster win the line out, but O's defence holding firm on the try line....could be a Munster DG coming if they can't shove it over....no, excellent clearance from Biggar! Phew!

Awh sh*t! knock on, but the ref misses it...crowd disgusted and rightly so cause it was obvious really...oh well. Scrum, and the Ospreys get the penalty. Less than a minute to go and Biggar's going for the posts. When this is kicked it's over....

Both Tipuric and Botha have been cited from the weekends match:

I didn't see the game myself, what did others make of Tipurics tackle on Keatley, and who did Botha hit??

Hope Tipuric isnt out for long, however a break wouldnt do him any harm, he has been flogging his back side off for us.

Dreamer - I can't remember! I remember both teams being down to 14 at one point. I'd have to look at the highlights again....it should be on S4C's Clic for the next week.

yeah might have to, just seems to have come out of the blue, I don't really recall reading anything about this in the match report either.

I don't think they showed a repeat of Tuperic's spear tackle during the coverage on S4C. I'm not sure if the cameras picked it up. I missed it and the commentators seemed confused as to why he'd been yellow carded.
Shame for him to miss part of the season now, he's been a big part of their success so far this season.

Botha head butted Richard Hibbard, right infront if the referee as well, I have seen players get sent off for that but James Jones did not even give a penalty, he just told them to stop the handbags. Although Hibbard was told to calm down about five times after the incident as he went looking for Botha and was eyeballing him during every scrum. I found it very funny in the end.

I have to say I'm concerned about the O's lack of discipline. They've had six yellows so far and we're only in October. Munster have had one more than us though so we're not the worst in the Rabo. Still, it doesn't bode well if our captain (Tipuric) is cited and banned on top.

Re: Munster v Ospreys Saturday 08/10/11
Cari, I was of the understanding, that, if you are punished on the field for your wrong doing then you cannot be punished after the event. So if Tupiric was yellowed and Munster got a penalty then that is the case delt with. Also if I am wrong, then what he and the Ospreys got ounished for during the game must be taken into account as "part" of his punishment. On the other hand, Botha or Munster did not get anything form his head butt and so any disiplinary action will have no part of the sentence served, so to speak.

LD, if you get a yellow (or less) for an offence the citing commissioner thinks should have been a red then he can still cite you.

Re: Munster v Ospreys Saturday 08/10/11
I'm not... considering the gutless inept performances they produced last season, I think it's fantastic that they are fighting for the cause, and losing men into the bin hasn't hindered them, in fact its inspired them to fight harder and often they out score the opposition when they are down to 14 men.Cari wrote:I have to say I'm concerned about the O's lack of discipline. Alyn - I get what you're saying, but banning players isn't going to help our cause. Also, a team is made up of 15 for a reason, and we can't afford to lose one against some sides...thinking of the Heineken Cup matches and when the internationals are back for all teams.

Botha Citing Dismissed
18 October 2011, 2:14 pm
A Disciplinary Hearing this morning in Edinburgh dismissed the citing against BJ Botha
Share
The charge of 'striking with the head' was levelled against the South African prop by the Citing Commissioner after an incident in the RaboDirect PRO12 League game against Ospreys on October 8th.
However the Committee, chaired by Paul Minto (Scotland), found he had no case to answer.
