Vela's Late Leveler Lowers Letdown
Rory Delap had given Stoke City the lead when he headed Jermaine Pennant's corner beyond Scott Carson on 53 minutes in what was his first goal at home in over two years. He last found the net at the Britannia against Tottenham in October 2008.
Then Carlos Vela came off the bench to rescue a deserved point at the Britannia Stadium.
The on-loan Arsenal striker pounced from Steven Reid's cross to fire the ball under the Stoke stopper Asmir Begovic on 87 minutes.
Vela and Peter Odemwingie both looked to be standing in offside positions, but it was little more than we deserved for a spirited recovery in the second period.
This draw means that West Brom move out of the relegation spots. They are fourth bottom of the table, a point ahead of Wolves and West Ham and two points clear of bottom-placed Wigan.
Its not the first time Vela has struck in the dying minutes to rescue the match for his side either. He slotted the ball past the Wolves keeper gaining us four points last week (preventing Wolves from running away from that bottom three). He was once again the main man for Hodgson.
Hodgson has now drawn his first three games as manager, following a 3-3 draw with West Ham United and a 1-1 with Wolves at home. Three points from three games is neither bad nor good, but it gives our new manager an unbeaten start with a team that could not stop losing prior Di Mateo's departure.
After the final whistle the Baggies fans gave Hodgson and his men a standing ovation for an excellent all-round team performance.

Good Result.
Could have been alot worse and in the dying moments we could have gone on to win.

West Brom almost won it in the dying seconds when Begovic made excellent stops to twice deny Vela, Graham Dorrans and Somen Tchoyi in a frantic finale to the match.

No real surprise there though! He snaps easier than Owen Hart's harnessAberdeenSteve wrote:And then Jonas Olsson punched a picture. Shocking scenes!
