Mils Muliaina retires
This interview must be pretty hard to watch for most NZ'ers

Mils Muliana,100caps seldom had a poor game in the Black shirt he was off to play in Japan from next year.
In the event All Blacks win the RWC then presumably he,Colin Slade and Dan Carter will still get winners medals as part of the squad?

Re: Mils Muliaina retires
My personal highlight of his career was 2010. Came from an indifferent year in 2009, suffered a loss of form and confidence and then rose like a phoenix from the ashes. Stunning running and some beautiful tries. Rock solid on defence, good option taker and great support runner and an eye for the try line.
So glad he got his 100th cap. Gutted he got injured. But a great servant of AB rugby and I wish him the very best for his future. ka pai bro

Re: Mils Muliaina retires
Brilliant player. Think my favourite memories of him are him committing two defenders and sending Rokocoko on a 50m sprint to the line untouched during NZ's rout of the Wallabies in 03, and him steaming to the line in the white jersey in Marseilles.
Well done Mils. You've added so much to the jersey. Without your benchmark we wouldn't have a guy of Dagg's class to step up now. Thanks for the memories.

He's retired now? Will he finish the tournament? Not going to read the article right now I have too many tabs open.
Legend though, definitely the best full back in world rugby for the majority of his career. His replacement looks capable of eclipsing his achievements though; that's good news for NZ rugby.

On the subject of medals how does it work, do all squad members get one or do they have to have played some part in some game etc.

Good question bedfordwelsh. All I know is if King Kong were to jump off our backs Carter would get a medal, thus so would Slade and Mils.

I echo the comments above.
Mils falls into the bracket of 'classy players'.
And there's no better bracket to fall into.
Superb career.

Simon Shaw got an MBE for being in the 2003 winning suqd (replacement for Grewcock) but did not play a minute.
I do not know if he got a medal - but it looks as if he is at the back of this with a ribbon round his neck

Back to the OP. The interview witth Muliaina was very moving. He has been a top class player and I wish some members of the England squad had shown even an ounce of the passion for representing your country as he has.

Legend. What a shame he went out like this. It takes some player to win 100 caps for the ABs. All the best Mils!
