World Rankings - US verses Europe
I have regularly checked the US and Europe to 12 for the last couple of years. For the last year or so Europe has had 12 to 15 guys above US top 12.
Europe now only has 9 inside US top 12, although all of the top 3. I guess one factor is the FEDEX series that favours the US players, but is this a sign of US making a comeback and/or Europe dropping off.
Sorry to raise Tiger again He is sitting in 52 position with an average of 2.68 points. However, the rules dictate that the average is based on a minimum of 40 tournaments and he has only played 27 over the last 2 years. His actual average over 27 tournaments would sneak him just inside the top 20. Becuase he has only played 10 counting events in 2010 he should quickly move up the rankings as soon as he increases his playing schedule.

Scottie,
I realise that Tiger has been injured, but even if he remains injusry free, there is nothing to suggest that Woods will increase his schedule to any more than about 16 events a year.

John,
I thought he would have averaged the minimum 20 counting events per year. I knew he played fever events than others, but I didn't realise the number was that low.
With such a low "rep" count as he puts it, it will make it more difficult to launch his comeback.

He (or anyone else) should get a penalty for not fulfilling his obligations unless he can get a sicknote.

He does, the penalty is having his points divided by 20 even though he's only played 16 times.super_realist wrote:He (or anyone else) should get a penalty for not fulfilling his obligations unless he can get a sicknote.
You could argue even that's a bit harsh, given that there's no "obligation" for any golfer to meet OWGR requirements, it's not like being a member of a tour for example

I was thinking more of a capital penalty!
