Where would you rank Roy Jones on the all time list?

Roy Jones Junior Trainer's interview with fight hype
ALFY SMITH: "DON'T COUNT ROY JONES OUT JUST YET"

Obviously the guy is deluded if he thinks Roy Jones can go back to beating elite fighters at this stage of his career but Im wondering how would boxing fans view RJJ if he retired after the John Ruiz fight. Could he of been considered a top 10 ATG? Also I think people wouldn't say he had a glass chin. I would say talent wise he was a top 10 ATG but the defeats after the Ruiz fight means he is only top 20 for me. 4 weight world champion won world titles at middle, super middle, light heavy and heavyweight, held 7 belts at once at light heavyweight. Beat respected names such as Griffin, Virgil Hill, Woods, Tarver and Lacy. Held wins over future hall of famers in Bernard Hopkins, Felix Trinidad and a hall of famer Mike McCallum. Had career defining wins over James Toney and John Ruiz. I would say he has done enough in achievement wise to go with his immense talent to be considered a top 20 all time great.

We are talking about greats anyway. Burley couldn't even win a title so would have to be ranked lower than Gavin Rees, Jan Zaveck etc. To compare him to Jones is a joke.

No primary evidence as to Burley fighting anyone
Heard he ducked Armstrong and refused to fight white guys...FACT!!

He broke his hand to avoid Armstrong, to be honest you would struggle to come up with a clearer case of ducking than that. He is only lucky D4 was not around then to call him on it.

Here we go.
This is going to be a long one, so I need an energy drink from the fridge, a protein shake and precisely half a banana so that I can stay the course.

Don't forget to lift as many weights as you possibly can as well, Windy. Pumping iron to the point of a nose bleed is also essential in boxing now, regardless of whether you're participating or debating. Azania taught me that.

Chris asking a man of Windy's years to lift weights is just cruel, he slips a disc if he overfills his mug of Horlicks

I'm on it as we speak, Chris.
Horlicks, as jeff, points out, is my only guilty pleasure when I'm in serious training.

D4 would also point out that Floyd used Xlocaine gel for his hand injuries so Burley is a double ducker.

Would never have happened if the sport had wised up and got with the programme of D4's plaster of paris hand wraps. You know, the ones which would make boxing safer!

Ha !
Not to mention that, although he was a member of the ' Black Murderers' Row, ' he never deliberately got himself on the wrong side of the law to avoid an opponent.

Re: Where would you rank Roy Jones on the all time list?
Roy Jones is only an all time great in his own head. He existed in an era almost unparalleled weakness in the middleweight to lightheavyweight division. An era already oversaturated with meaningless titles and weight classes which serve only to cheapen the rich history of the sport.
I think when you consider that a genuine all time great fighter like Ezzard Charles could not win one lightheavyweight title never mind four then it highlights the point rather vividly.
