World Championship Qualifiers

The qualifiers for the World Championship begin where the hopefuls will be attempting to join the elite at the Crucible Theatre.

One individual who will once again attempt to qualify is 80’s favourite Tony Knowles; this would create media interest if he was to make the TV stages next month. The odds of this happening are extreme.

There were some great matches during the World Championship Qualifiers. With the aid of World Snooker’s live scoring system and Twitter this was exciting stuff without TV courage.

Steve Davis scraped past youngster Jack Lisowski with a 10-9 win, sadly didn’t get past Stephen Lee.

Veterans Joe Perry, Dominic Dale and Mark King secured their places in the last 32 of the World Championship at the Crucible with qualifying victories at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Matthew Stevens beat Fergal O'Brien on the final black to book his place in the final stages of the World Championships.

Another former world champion, Ken Doherty, also failed to make the Crucible after a second session implosion against Jimmy Robertson.

Wales Andrew Pagett completed a Cinderella run to his first major event with a 10-6 win over Andrew Higginson. Pagett needed to win four qualifying events to get the televised stage.
