Terrible start for England, with Cook and Kieswetter both falling for 0.

2/2 after 3 overs, very disappointing start after winning the toss, with both batsmen apparently getting out to innocuous deliveries.

Vinay has even bowled one at 135 KMPH in that last over of his!.

Oh and a run out mix up to end the innings, great! Dernbach needs to work on his running between the wickets big time

10 balls wasted, 237 allout.
India should bat normal here, this is that kind of an in between total that can slip the chasing side.
Would like to See Gambhir open with Rahane coming down at 3.

I'd have said get the singles by that point as the batsmen weren't good enough to slog with any success. Bit late now though

India should see Swann Off and target the others. If Gambhir is well set, he can take the attack even to Swann, he's the best player of spin in India after Tendulkar.

Yeah, and balls wasted. Really good death bowling by India though but I feel a few of the batsman threw their wickets away.

237? Swann has got to have a blinder. India can easily win this by just pacing themselves.

This will take some bowling effort from England to stop India getting this total and i dont think that England have to bowlers to do it.

Maybe you're being a bit biased there MSP, every source I have read said it should have been given out. Backed away far too late.

I think it's one of those where if you're English you think it's out, if you're Indian you think dead ball. He did back away very late, but on examining the replay it was just before Bresnan hit his delivery stride, so maybe benefit of the doubt is fair enough? Don't think he could have complained too much if he'd been sent on his way though...

England need quick early wickets to make a game out of this one. Good start from them, not too many runs, and Parthiv Patel is back in the hut already.

Interested as to what your views are on Rahane as an opener msp, do you rate him?

Rahane top edges a pull for six, just out of the fielder's reach at fine-leg, and amazingly tries the exact same shot next ball but this time it's straight down his throat! Bit of a daft shot that, and a bonus fro Bresnan!

He felt he wasn't ready, and he backed out. fair enough for me.

I rate Rahane very highly and think he is far superior to Patel, so you'd think when some other guys are fit that Rahane will slip down the order and Patel will be out of the side.

Must admit I do find it somewhat baffling that Gambhir is playing but not opening, though. In this instance maybe Rahane would be better off at 3.

Seems the expectations are getting to the youngster a bit. May be time for Flech to get in, or a cool hand from the senior players.
The best bet is to bat him down at 3, particularly as Gambhir is a natural opener.

I think that Rahane is a quality player, i just dont see him as an opener

Finn's bowling well, with pace and hostility, but without much luck. Gambhir is getting amove on, he has to get some runs, and get back to ful form soon.

Surely Kohli must get out soon, he has'nt looked at all comfortable. Really riding his luck here. It must be so frustrating for the England bowlers.

Although India have been very lucky, they are also going along very well and at an excellent run rate

this lot have put on fifty at better than a run a ball, maybe half of those off the edge but it's taken all the pressure off India.

these two starting to find the middle of the bat now, and India are in absolute cruise control. England should bring back Finn and try to blast a couple out, otherwise it'll be too late

India is findings ways to get the boundray even outside the power play. among all those edgy moments, Gambhir has played some superb shots as well, and Kohli too looks good.
They need to carry on, a wicket can change the game quickly.

You ride your luck sometimes and it works out for you. No doubt that the Indian batsmen have ridden their luck but they are also starting to look confident, good signs for them... Where is that English rain when you need it

In all seriousness though, how bloody annoying is it to not only see a man that should be out getting runs against you, but even worse when they're mostly off the edge. Frustrating, but I guess India need some help after the annihilation we served up in England.

why is Bopara bowling?

He has MfC but he has also made the Indian batsmen think. Hopefully he will get a wicket or two

I still dont see Boparas worth in the team. His good performances are too few and far inbetween.
