Steve Smith
Is it time to send steve smith back to grade cricket?
he hasnt performed for australia for a while now, and white or katich for his state dosent seem to show any confidence in his bowling now. In the champions league katich bowled himself instead of smith a few times, and for australia, white hasnt chucked him the ball with any sort of confidence for a while now..
what do u guys think?

Re: Steve Smith
neither batting nor bowling are of international standard. he's a fantastic fielder, but there must be guys better suited to bat at 6/7 then smith. his batting technique isn't tight enough.

Re: Steve Smith
I would compare his batting to Broad's. Obviously he has some talent with the bat, but he is stroke playing number 8 at the moment. Nothing else. As for his bowling, he might get away with it in the ODI side as he is an awesome fielder and this is needed in ODI's, but in tests it isn't good enough.

Re: Steve Smith
his batting is certainly better than broad's in my opinion, his first class record is good. for me he doesn't really understand his game. his bowling is more a rolling leg break. no real turn.JDizzle wrote:I would compare his batting to Broad's. Re: Steve Smith
Maybe slightly better, but at this moment in time he is no more than a good test match number 8 and his bowling isn't good enough to be in a four man attack. Nowhere near.

Re: Steve Smith
its a tough time for australia, because they keep moving spinners in and out of the side, when hussey goes they dont have a number 6, ready, marsh will play 3, and khawajla hasnt made a good start to his test career, playing all his tests on flat wickets, so smith seems like he will prob play...

Re: Steve Smith
not really, as the keeper(whether it be haddin, paine or wade) can bat at 6, then someone like smith can bat at 7. watson will bat in the middle order in the near future(probably when punter retires), so that will mean clarke stays at 5 or he could move to 6 to allow khawaja to bat at 5.cricketfan90 wrote:its a tough time for australia, because they keep moving spinners in and out of the side, when hussey goes they dont have a number 6, ready, marsh will play 3, and khawajla hasnt made a good start to his test career, playing all his tests on flat wickets, so smith seems like he will prob play...

Re: Steve Smith
mitchell marsh is key to australia's future, as if he develops well, he'll be the guy to bat at 6.

Re: Steve Smith
i do like the look of mitch marsh to be honest, but with watson already in the side, they dont really need another seam bowling all rounder, havng a spinning all rounder is always useful.

steve o'keefe is the man would could be the spinning all rounder. he's nsw's skipper this season, so he'll play all the first class gamescricketfan90 wrote:i do like the look of mitch marsh to be honest, but with watson already in the side, they dont really need another seam bowling all rounder, havng a spinning all rounder is always useful.
