This should be on the club thread
Yes a pretty good back line like the scarlets and the Ospreys are not too bad.

All we need now is good coaches to teach them how to play!

The new management dont seem to favour him much :/
Whoever gets the permanent position would be a fool to overlook Halfpenny at FB now, we have plenty of good wingers, but Czekaj and Fish havent replaced Ben Blair, Halfpenny could.

Re: Cardiff Backline looks impressive!
Cardiff??? Fair play for a welsh premiership backline that is pretty feirce, that said the (Cardiff) Blues must be struggling for players then.
Being serious though I am not too sure about how good a signing Mr Henson will be if he is played as a fly half. I guess it can be either one of two out comes. But looking at the quality of players the Blues have available to them in the back devision they are looking blessed at the moment
1st Choice
Lloyd Williams
Gavin Henson
Tom James
Casey Lualala
Jamie Roberts
Leigh Halfpenny
Chris Czekaj
2nd Choice
Richie Rees
Ceri Sweeney
Alex Cuthbert
Gavin Evans
Daf Hewitt
Richard Mustoe
Dan Fish
So that is only one non-welsh player in two decent (well good enough) sets of backs.

Re: Cardiff Backline looks impressive!
How good are James, Czekaj, Fish? I'd also wonder about Henson at 10.
As I see it they have an excellent midfield.

Re: Cardiff Backline looks impressive!
James is a good finisher but often lacks a rugby brain.
Fish is very young but a good prospect, has a good boot on him from FB
Czekaj....I dunno, a lot of talent but has never reached the heights expected after his horrific leg injury. A solid regional player though I guess.

Re: Cardiff Backline looks impressive!
I'd worry about putting Henson in such a pivotal position such as flyhalf - he's been out of the game a long time and he always had the tendency to disappear in games.
But this could be a very good signing for the Blues, Henson and Wales although my first thought was that he'd be a very good option at FB, what with his big boot, ability to run good angles and his defence (assuming he's got his physicality back).
Saying that he seems a bit brittle which could lead to lots of big players running down the Blues 9/10 channel.

I'd start Cuthbert over James every time, he's a monster and will only get better.
We are a few years off but imagine him and North on the wings for wales

Re: Cardiff Backline looks impressive!
I agree Cuthbert looks a lot more dangerous, maybe a bit soon for him at the mo but by the end of the season I reckon he'll be immense and you prob won't see James for dust.

Re: Cardiff Backline looks impressive!
Has anybody ever thought about putting Tom James in the center ? Let's be honest he is not the sharpest tool in the box and doesn't really know how to skin his aponent, but he is very big and very fast and will always get over the gain line. Imagine him and Jamie Roberts bashing up the middle, now that would take some stopping.
