Is Howley really off to Bath RFC?
The contracts of Gatland’s coaching team are up at the end of the World Cup with Wales’ attack mastermind Rob Howley in line to become coach of Aviva Premiership out-fit Bath in England and continue his rugby education under the direction of Lions legend Sir Ian McGeechan.
Former captain Howley hasn’t made a secret of his desire to become the main man.
“I want to coach at the highest level and my long-term ambition is Wales but there’s no doubt that I need to gain more experience by working in another environment, maybe as a head coach or director of rugby,” he said during the summer.

What about the Blues as an option. They could do with a head honcho who has experience of working with Gatland to bring his philosophies in.
I think it would be good to see Gatlands deputies working at the regions. McBryde is already at the Scarlets.

I wouldn't mind a McGeech/Howley double act at Bath! Maybe then our team could find their way to the try line (last week at the Dragons aside).

He did a good job at the Blues, it's amazing how the Welsh public went from wanting his head in the 6 nations to him being regarded as one of the greatest rugby brains ever.
I think it would work well.

I think (as you probably know) that few Welsh fans think Howley is the bees knees, but rather now Wales are actually doing well the Western Fail has decided that everything related to Wales is the cats pj's and must be world class - in fact now I think about it the Western Mail is set up to be an elaborate WUM

Yes I'd like to see him cut his teeth as a head coach, as well as Mcbryde and Neil Jenkins.
Why not let them broaden their coaching horizons and take a head coaches job?

As I posted else where. The last three years we have moaned about Holey/Edwards/McBryde not being up to the job. We have won four matches in the RWC, which we would have expected to have won anyway (Samoa, Namibia, Fiji, Ireland) and lost two matches (SA, France) so why do we all of a sudden think that these coaches are up to the job and worth keeping for another four years?

I'm not sure how pleased I would be about this to be honest, the Welsh attack in the six nations was fairly blunt and ineffective and not at all in the Bath style. We would also presumably just be training him up to go back an apply for the Welsh job in a few years?
Having said that Geech is more a director of rugby than a first team coach and will probably be involved with the Lions next year so maybe it would be good to get someone in who his relatively young and hungry (as I presume Howley is!).

Bathman, Howley's attack coaching for the World cup seemed to go well. Wales have been playing some superb rugby. I think he could do a good job for you...
Still i think it is just a rumour
