The Honda Classic
Play is underway in this week's PGA event - The Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Good field there especially for European fans though Tiger and Phil have chosen to stay away.
Early starters are now out, nobody making much of a move yet though young Rory has birdied his first hole
Anyone know where Lee needs to finish this week to regain number 1?

Re: The Honda Classic
Nightmare start for Luke with a triple on the 11th (his second). Some big numbers starting to appear on the leaderboard but these are mostly players starting off the 10th tee - back nine must be really difficult today.
Rory back to level and Lee on +1 (both starting on the 10th). Luke still +3 after 4.
Leaders still on -2 (both started off the 1st)

Tiger could slip down to 7 in the OWGR while Westwood could claim back the number one spot from Kaymer. To reclaim number one Westwood needs a solo 3rd finish or better.
If McIlroy and Kucher both have good weeks Tiger can slip from 5th to 7th. If McIlroy finishes sole second and Kuchar wins they both go ahead of tiger.

Looks like another day of carnage out there - no one better than -2 for the day and lots of players over par (some significantly). Overnight leader still sitting on -3 not yet started.
Anyone around level par after two rounds will still be well in the hunt and I feel the cut could go up as high as +6 or even +7

Villegas having an absolute giraffe! +15 a course he normally so good on, his game is in pieces this year!
Ernie no1 GIR this year just not making many putts. Westy playing superbly -3 for the day could be his week in the US,
Donald playing solidly just that bad start yesterday still leaving him at +2.
Rory the hat! Seriously does the guy think he's Greg Norman! 64 for the 2nd round superb.
Kyle Stanley last years Q School 1st Stage medallist and final qualifier is playing marvellously and has a fantastic collegiate pedigree.
Does anyone know if it conceivable that by the time we get to Augusta dependant on results Tiger may not be top 10!

How good must LW be tee to green? His putting is atrocious and yet he's still in the top 10.

You must have seen the 3 putt from 25ft on 16 last week when he had 2 putts to win the hole and get back to all square? I watched him play the last 6 holes tonight and he missed a birdie putt from 4 feet on 14 and 3 putted 16 from about 30ft, leaving the first put 10 ft short. He holed one on 13, I think it was, but apart from that he didn't even threaten the hole.

Re: The Honda Classic
yeah I saw that...
sounds like that might be a bit of rust... or possibly something that's coming from some off season work.
Hopefully it'll sort itself out in the next week or three.

Don't understand why so many shoot it in the drink on 15 and 17? Yes, there's water and it's windy, but still the holes are relatively short.

Re: The Honda Classic
They just replayed Rory's adventures in the Bear Trap yesterday on Golf Channel. Splash, splash, splash!
Then they showed today's shot on 15 live - right onto the green. There is less wind today.

Anyone see McDowell's course record 64. Got to love that he is still doing it in the US. I bet some people just want to right him off but I think he is going to do well on the PGA tour.

Well, right at the moment he's finished the tournament and tied 27th at +4, so that is not going to happen.
We'll see how Westwood and Kaymer do next week. Kaymer could establish his position solidly with a good week.
