In the next 3 overs, India need a real big one if they have to stand a chance. Good start so far from Dernbach.

Bresnan has a big chance here to shine and bowl England to a victory. I must admit that i didnt like him at first but he is really turning into a fine player

You still got to think India will win 30 from 18 balls, but you never know.

on a side note, how crucial could those two runs which possibly should have been added to England's score (Patel six/four) prove to be?

very unlucky from Kieswetter, didn't realise he had broken the stumps as he went to take the bails off or he would have taken the stump out

really what was Kieswetter doing? that's three wickets we've missed today because of him, not his best day with the gloves then...

and that really is that, all about small margins, and maybe those two extra runs were crucial, also too many wides. Shame, after somehow getting back into the match. Good effort from England that, but not enough...

Re: India v England 3rd ODI Debate.
MS Dhoni showed some fluency in the last 2 balls of his innings, but that's been enough!!!!!!!. That's the series, nevertheless, a pretty close match, and thus a beter performance from England after being soundly thrashed in the first 2 matches.

Re: India v England 3rd ODI Debate.
Utter garbage that bowling was.
Dernbach has got to go, he bottled it big style. England blew that, we had them exactly where we wanted them before reverting to the old English trick of bottling it, and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Pathetic.

Who is more concerned with flicking his fringe up than bowling with any sort of accuracy?
Who is the worst 'specialist death bowler' of all time?
Re: India v England 3rd ODI Debate.
3-0 India and it will be another 5-0 shutout like it was in 2008. Love it.

One wonders why India team played so poorly in England, not long ago.
Is it just that both teams typically perform better at home?

i wouldnt even call it the bowling- its pacing an innings- its allwas the same in unknown conditions. Everyone talks bnowilng- how is it england can get teams out in test for almost nothing then play an odi and give away 350- this isnt just to teams like india- we do it against teams like ireland!
we can out hit these teams first and foremost. secondly we need to really sort out why we can bowl in 20/20 and test so well-0 yet cant do it in 50 over stuff

Re: India v England 3rd ODI Debate.
Kieswetter had an awful day with the gloves. He dropped Kohli and Gambhir, admitedly the latter was a dificult one. But that runout opportunity he messed up, It couldn't have come easier, and had showed some presence of mind, he could have retrieved the situation.
There are all kinds of questions on England's bowling, Graeme Swann started and finished like a true world class bowler that he really is, but the middle of the spel was just not like it. In the absence of Broad and Anderson, may be England need him to sholder more burden.
Tem Bresnan, a bowler best placed to make use of the tough Indian conditions, has to really step up. Its futile to argue that he played so many matches and so his performance is dipping. May be he should have a word on that with MS Dhoni.
No complaints on steven Finn, to work up such fantastic pace on these track, you need a big heart besides skill and fitnes.
Jade Dernbach, think his time's up for now. Has been going for plenty for some time now. looks like a decent T-20 bowler, but that's about it.
May be England should look at the eye watering prospect in the next match. Would be interesting to see him in action after all those batting for your life performances all that while ago!.

Re: India v England 3rd ODI Debate.
The biggest positive for England is Kevin Pietersen continuing his come back to form. He even managed to get a few concessional statements from his biggest fan!!.
England will have to face the Trott question fair and squair. His ODI achievements are brilliant, im scoring 98 today shows his value. But his inability to up the pace of an innings, it is a problem. England can't certainly drop him, can't bat him anywhere other than at 3. But then what to do? leave him to work on his game all by himself?

IMO the problem we had in teh world cup was when bell and trott got in together- one that cant pace an innings is bad but two is a death sentance- in engalnd/home they got away with it- mainly because our bowlers got them out of trouble.

Re: India v England 3rd ODI Debate.
Although they won the series, India too have to address some tough questions. In fact this is the best time to ask them and try finding answers.
I am seriously concerned about the way they went about the chase. Could see a lot of England under Flech there. Start slow, loose wickets, go even slower, finish with a wimp. Of course India haven't done it, and of course they are missing Tendulkar and Sehwag at the top. But after seeing the first spel from Finn off, they failed to get on with it, and even Samit Patel was treated as if he is Dan Vetori or someone.
That old England style is a tried and tested failure, India better keep away from that. May be I am imagining things. But could see some defenit patterns, even from the series in England. Parthiv Patel continues to get starts, he continues to stop there. May be its time for Manoj Tiwary to come in? That will allow Gambhir to open, and Tiwary is a fine fielder too, and if needed can turn his arm over for 2-3 overs.
Next question is something that's een asked for some time now. When's Varun Aaron getting a game? I thought, and still do think that he should come in for Vinay. but his performance in the previous match, think he has earned the series for himself.
Umesh Yadav has shown promiss, but hasn't nailed the position for himself. He has been going for a few as ell. Aaron is even faster than Yadav, and is an effective hitter.
