Scottish sign 2 Argentines
London Scottish have had a tough start to their return to Championship rugby after 9 years in the wilderness. After 7 games, with just 2 wins, the Scottish Exiles lie 10th in the table, despite narrow losses to the likes of Leeds and Cornish Pirates. They have now announced the signings of Agustin Gosio and Alfredo Lalanne, two members of the impressive Argentina squad at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Gosio is a winger who represented the Pumas for the first time at the World Cup, scoring a try against Georgia. Strong and pacy, he will add an extra attacking threat to the Scottish wide areas. Lalanne is an experienced scrum-half who has represented Argentina 10 times, including two tests against Scotland in 2009 and 2010. Formally of London Irish, he has experince of playing in the top flight of English rugby, and will provide invaluable experience to a young squad, particularly with Scottish DoR(and player) Simon Amor out with injury.

Fingers crossed these signings can turn things around. It was always going to be a tough season, it's a big step.
Esher have been awful though, so hopefully LS can stay up and get themselves established in that division.

Re: Scottish sign 2 Argentines
I do hope the Scots can push themselves up the table.
It was really great to see so many local teams do well last season - Esher, London Scots, London Welsh and Richmond (well, Richmonds better this season than last).
Lon Welsh are going well - but how come there is a dip for Esher? Have all their dual registered players left for their bigger partners? or did they just not replace decent leavers?
Scots are newly promoted and I would expect them to be in the bottom half of the table and build from there.

Sorry, forgot that Ealing in National 1 are doing well and Rosslyn Park are solid mid table too.

From the offy site:
Suspect it's too late to avoid the relegation playoffs, but should help avoid the relegation spot that is the outcome of the playoffs
"London Scottish has announced a trio of new signings in the run up to the end of season play-offs.
The Club is delighted to capture the signature of winger Gerard Mullen from London Welsh.
Formerly of Esher, Mullen is the grandson of the late Irish and Lions legend Karl Mullen, who captained Ireland to their first-ever Grand Slam in 1948, Gerard developed a reputation at Esher as something of a flyer.
The 20-year-old full back/wing from Dublin made 13 appearances for Esher in his debut Championship season, scoring six tries, including a 50-metre effort to stun the Cornish Pirates. Last season he also represented Harlequins in the A League.
Gerard came through the Leinster Academy, playing U19s for the Province, before coming to the attention of Leicester Tigers and figuring in their Development Squad for 2009/10 - where he made several A League appearances.
He was also named in the Tigers' squad for the Premiership Sevens Series in July 2010.
Joining Mullen at 1st XV training this week is hooker Ollie Hayes. Hayes was the stand-out hooker for Bristol last season, and joined Worcester Warriors over the summer. However, injury dealt a blow his Warriors starting spot, so by signing for Scottish on duel-registration terms he will be keen to recover his Championship form.
Also signing for Scottish is Kiwi Zane Winslade. Winslade played for Tasman Makos in New Zealand along with Scottish number 8 Mark Bright as a back row forward, and has been signed to give cover to the scrum. It is unlikely that Winslade will make his debut immediately, but as he gains fitness his experience will be invaluable during the play-offs.
Head Coach Simon Amor was pleased with the additions to his squad: "It is critical to have strength in depth, especially as we have been hit by our fair share of injuries like most squads in this league. We've been looking at the right sort of people first and foremost- people that have the right attitude and who will fit in well with our current group of players at London Scottish. These additions will provide extra quality to help us with the remainder of the campaign."
It looks likely that Hayes and Mullen will be involved against Nottingham on Sunday."
Suspect it's too late to avoid the relegation playoffs, but should help avoid the relegation spot that is the outcome of the playoffs
