The Perpetual Horse Racing Quiz.
First topic message reminder :
Ok, here's my idea for a quiz.
I'd planned on posting about 12 questions, and getting you to pm me the answers.
But I've had what I think is a better idea
I thought we could have an on going quiz, it will go like this.....someone posts a question ( it can be about anything related to racing).
The person who answers correctly gets to ask the next question......if you are certain you have the correct answer then go ahead and ask a question......if your not sure just wait until someone confirms it.
In that way the thread can run for as long as people are interested in it.
I'm rather pleased with that idea
Of course, it could all go horribly wrong...........but we'll give it a go.
Here's the first question:
In the 1998 Cheltenham Gold Cup, See More Business was carried out by Cyborgo (Paul Nicholls was not a happy bunny!).
Can you name the other horse that was carried out in that incident?
I'm off now .....I've had a busy day......night night,
Solerina.

Looks a nice fair track with well positioned obstacles and a nice long straight, just that awkward to get to.

It was awhile ago when i was there,it was the year Kendal Cavalier won the Welsh National and the Nut cleaned up at 20s.Those days are few and far between.I do like the track though, very fair and a good jumping test.

Ffos Las has the potential to be a right good track, it was built on top of an old open cast site, the local area has had huge investment and if you are ever down that neck of the woods its well worth a visit
Kendal won the Welsh in 98 or 99

Cant say too much as it will give it away, especially to the "Googlers".All i can say is that these two horses are linked in a unique way,a link that will probably never be achieved again.

Well chaps and chapesses if one of you aint gonna post it then im afraid theres not much chance of anybody else doing it.So i'll put the rest(term used very loosely) out of their misery.
Gloaming won the Lincoln in 1941
ESB won the National in 1956
Both ridden by Dave Dick, making him the only jockey to have ridden both winners of the Spring double.
Next visitor please put a question up

At which racecourse (no longer open) was the Silver Bell, one of the oldest trophies in horse racing contested.
The course closed in the 70's, the trophy was stored away in the local council offices and stayed there til 2008 when the trophy was contested for again as a valuable handicap at the nearest course to its original venue.

Re: The Perpetual Horse Racing Quiz.
Would never have known this if it wasn't for my Scottish Father-In-Law...I knew i got married for a reason ....
I'm reliably informed that the Silver Bell was contested at Lanark Racecourse.
My Father-In-Law says that he used to go to Lanark with my Mother-In-Law to watch 'Chariot Racing' in the '70's .... She can't remember ever going there to which we now have a rather cold atmosphere as she reckons he took someone else !!!! Who'd have thought it Swansea' .. Your question is about to cause World War Three !!!

Re: The Perpetual Horse Racing Quiz.
Just my luck to know the answer to the question & miss the question.
Supposedly, the oldest continually run horse racing event was the Lanark Silver Bell, which was last run in 1977 before the course closed, and now run at Hamilton.

I don't think it was all that long ago was it.......if I remember correctly.

I used to go to Stockton or Teesside Park, as it became known,on a Monday night in the seventies with my dad. This was long before Windsor became the be all and end all of Monday evenings.Dont know if this was actually the first night meetings.
