India vs England - 4th ODI
After the dismay of watching the most arrogant team in world rugby win, it is on to the cricket. Of course the series is already dead with India 3-0 but both teams are trying new faces.
Meaker and Borthwick come in for England, with Swann and Jade "the death" Dernbach missing out. And for India Aaron in for Yadav. At least CF will be pleased, his two favourite players in.
Eng won the toss and batted first and they are 61-2 off 10. Cook went first, then Kies went for 29 after getting another start.

Trott's been going at a decent pace though, maintaining a strike rate of around 80 through-out. Good rebuilding job from these two, we need to keep wickets in hand for a push at the end.
Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
Balls. Trott out. I'm going to get something to eat and stop talking to myself!
Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
How has the cricket been today? Was watching the rugby world cup final so missed the start.

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
Just saw the Kieswetter lbw, incredibly unlucky! When they keep that low it doesn't matter who you are, you're gone. Shame as he was beginning to step on the gas.
Need a good partnership from these boys now.

I just never feel confident when Bopara is batting in these situations.

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
I watched the rugby as well, switched over after the full-time whistle. I turned on when we were 70ish for 2 I think. It was watchful from Trott and Pietersen, ticking over but no fireworks. Kieswetter and Trott both got good deliveries, Kieswetter had started to wind up and Trott was going at over 80 per 100, so wickets just at the right time from an Indian perspective.
Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
Cheers robbo.
I honestly would have put Bairstow in ahead of Bopara.

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
Pitch looks slow, we'll do well to get 270, but if we bowl better than we have done, that could be a winning score.
Not confident about Bopora either, been out of touch most of this mini tour, but all he really has to do is stay in, and keep giving Pietersen the bat.

Wow great catch to remove KP.
There is a lot of turn but we don't have the attack to exploit that at all.

I think 300 could be okay, but now Pietersen out not sure we'll get close. Need Bairstow and Patel to increase the pace, as Bopora seems to be slowing it down.

With Bopara there, i think that England will be lucky to get 250.

Bopora out, that could be okay, but we're losing wickets quite quickly, 141 - 5, not sure how we're going to get close to 300.

If we get to 200 now we'd have done well.

Another few overs to get the feel of the pitch for these two then take the batting powerplay before it gets too late.

Just out of intrest, anyone now why Swann was rested for this game, as this pitch looks ideal for him.

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
Just cameback and joined the game. So another fine performance from India with the ball. Both Jadeja and Ashwin have bowled superbly , and all the 3 seamers have given them decent support. Young Aaron, at last, got a game, and although he hasn't done anything great as yet, hasn't disgraced himself, bowled at a lively pace.
Strange selections from England. What's happened to Swann? Is he being rested? If so, think they have got it absolutely wrong. This a track that does help the spinner more than any other pitched involved in the series, and such he just should have played if he was available. Thought they would have been better of going for the more experienced Onions rather than Meaker who doesn't apparently bowl with great control, although he has got pace.
And, again Kevin Pietersen got a start and hasn't converted, yet remain the top scorer among the top 6. Says a lot about the rest of England batting lineup rather than it does about KP.

That fellow Yorkshireman Bresnan to hit out now, while on his way to a 50, hopefully anyhow.
According to radio, Swann rested because he's captain of the 20/20 on saturday! think your reason eire more plausable.

Ravi's a strange one, very good in the counties game. And has the capabilties to do well, but just looks like he has no confidence when playing for England.

Fine job from Ashwin. Aaron now has a chance to attack the lower order with his pace.

Aaron should get some yorkers going. He's defenetly an exciting prospect, but needs more first class and list A experience.

Oh well done Varun Aaron!!!. Fine way to get your first ODI wicket. And he got those yorkers going, and even managed to make the ball do something as well.

I am sorry if there are any Bopara fans out there but i really do feel that its time to let him go. His performances for England are too few and very far between to be considered a good player.

Looks that way Hoggy and what is more scary is that India have really unearthed a talent in Aaron

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
Fine performance fromIndia in the first half. Varun Aaron has had a hugely impressive start to his ODI career. Time spend in the dressing room seems to have benefited the youngster, it seems he has added more to his repertoire, besides sharp pace that he already had. He bowled some good yorkers, and got the ball to move, the one that got Bresnan, was a beauty

Aaron looked quality and once again we looked hugely average.

India will knock these runs off inside 40 overs with only loosing 1 or 2 wickets i think.

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
The Finnster is cranking it up again today. Keeping around the 90mph mark he has got a second wicket as Gambhir plays on for 1. Kohli and Rahane in now and India 25-2 off 10. Borthwick on!

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
England bowlers have been able to make a game out of it so far. England would need another quick wicket, and India pretty much need these 2 to stay on for some more time.

Meaker gets him!
Meaker > Dernbach!
India in trouble(ish). Kohli/Rain/Dhoni should still get them home

Re: India vs England - 4th ODI
Looks like the raw pace of Meaker and Finn is going to cause India the most problems today. India still favourites, but at least England are rescuing some dignity. On the negative side Borthwick is getting a rough lesson on debut.
