Shaun Edward to leave Wasps and Wales?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/15415545.stm
Wasps head coach Shaun Edwards has hinted that he could leave his post at the Premiership club.
The former Great Britain rugby league star has spent much of September and October at the World Cup in his position as Wales' defence coach.
"There is a pretty good chance I will be unconnected, both at club and international level, when I get back," said Edwards.
"Maybe it is time for me to go on to other challenges."
Asked if that meant he would be leaving Wasps, Edwards continued: "Potentially, maybe in the future. I will make a statement when it all comes out properly."
Edwards had already revealed that he was unsure whether he had a future with Wales once they returned home from New Zealand.
The former Bradford Bulls and London Broncos scrum-half joined Wasps as backs coach in 2001 and took over as head coach from current Wales boss Warren Gatland in 2005.
During Edwards' time at the club, Wasps have won the Premiership on three occasions, as well as lifting the Heineken Cup in 2004 and 2007.
If he was to become a free agent it would undoubtedly alert England, with current head coach Martin Johnson and his staff yet to make a decision on their futures.
Edwards insisted that his future remains in the sport, adding: "My future is up in the air, there is no doubt about it. I like coaching rugby, and I will have an open mind to anything, really."

16 years at Wigan, winning trophies galore and they describe him as "The former Bradford Bulls and London Broncos scrum-half "
Unbelievable.
As to where he goes - it was always likely that there would be a parting of the ways at Wasps, especiallyt if he has further international aspirations.
That he may leave Wales is more surprising - but probably should not be, with the various problems he has had in the last year.

He's not re-negoiated his contract with the WRU yet so there good chance he could stay as well.
I for one hope he does as he has done greta with our defence and is a winner through and through.
If he does go then good luck to him in whatever he does.

To work part time with the Blues and Wales? Like McBride at the Scarlets? Would be great for the Blues, not sure about him as head coach though.

Edwards might back him up.
But I hear there is some solidity to the Blues rumour, at the moment.

That leapt out at me too.
So did the 'three Premiership titles'. It has been four.
And you wonder why people say 'don't believe what the media write'.
All Edwards has said is that he is a free agent. That means he is at liberty to renew his contracts with Wasps and Wales, as well as considering other options. The RFU wanted him in their set up, but not part time. Edwards is incredibly loyal, and unless England offer him a full time post, I can see the status quo happening here.

Re: Shaun Edward to leave Wasps and Wales?
I've heard rumours that Edwards fell out with certain members of the Welsh setup after anti-English songs were sung on the team coach. This led to Edwards and someone else(Can't remember who) getting suspended after they almost came to blows. Edwards is a very very proud Englishman so took offence to what was being sung.

Re: Shaun Edward to leave Wasps and Wales?
If England want a new defence coach, given how France have performed in that area in their last couple of games and how clean they've been at the breakdown (penalties there being a particular problem for England), Dave Ellis would be a very good bet, especially as he said he wanted the jop post WC.

Re: Shaun Edward to leave Wasps and Wales?
Would it be a downgrading? England are 5th in the world rankings, 3 places infront of Wales.....

Now that is clutching at straws...
It would be downgrading in terms of the mess at the rfu. I wouldn't want to work there.
