Burns vs Katsidis

First topic message reminder :

On paper a exciting fight, which i see Burns winning about 116-112 on scorecards.
However burns is a 5/4 underdog in this fight, Is there something that am missing?
Katsidis is a tough fighter with good power but is a contender level fighter where as Burns in my opinion is World Class.

I dont see katsidis as being the bigger man although Burns is coming up he was a Vey big Super Featherweight fighter. Is there a reason why Katsidis is the favourite that am not seeing and who do you guys see winning this?

In between cooking sausages, I am. He was never that great to begin with. He's a bit like Paul Smith in that sense. Just that he gets more attention because he's American. Which the commentators just mentioned as I was typing it.

No he was never amazing but tis is NOT the same Green as before, there is something completely wrong with him. Better than SMith come on!!!!

I did say that, yeah. Groves impressed me with his demeanour and behaviour in the Degale build-up. Seems thoroughly likeable. Shows a certain intelligence and maturity in the way he deals with his mistakes, which is commendable. If he tried to bum me though I'd snap it off. I don't work that way.

Better perhaps, but not a great deal different. If he was a Brit they'd be at the same level, more or less.

On a more serious note I never thought that much of Green but in the last couple of years he seems disinterested.

Yeah Green isn't looking much cop here. No doubt he'll churn out some excuse afterwards. Disinterested is just the word I was looking for. Like he just isn't that into it. Which brings the conversation full circle.

Not sure against Johnson he looked game though against Ward he looked utterly out of his comfort zone and confused. This fight there's something not right with him.

No workrate, no sense of urgency...he doesn't look sharp...

Angulo v Kirkland isn't pretty but its a cracker so far, first round was round of the year candidate.

No looks off balance when he's throwing shots now and doesn't seem to have any real power, don't know what it is.

I have Angulo early as well but the way they are both just throwing it could end at any time. There was a point I didn't think they'd make it past the first during that opening round.

Yeah the Ishida fight was a funny one as it didn't look good for Kirkland but he's taken a few big ones in this fight, so hard to judge.

Kirkland looked good there but think he will come up short at the higher levels, to much of a headhunter for my liking and not convinced he's got anything else in his locker.

Yeah figured Angulo would have done him in Mexico good fight scrappy as hell mind.

The McCall fight is off

Was thinking Green might have been a good opponent for a Groves/Degale in a year or so if they want to dip their toes at lower world level but based on this performance I'm not sure where they go with Green.

He's fighting at LHW here, he looks completely gone, think Groves or Degale would smash him to pieces judging by this it's awful...

Yeah its almost as if Green's found out that he might not be elite level after the Johnson defeat and he's just going through the motions.

There's something not right, he looks completely off balance it's more to do with his body I think, there's something wrong with him, maybe the Johnson fight took something out of him? dunno but this is just poor. He has carried out the instructions seems to be attempting to get something going, but there's no power or anything...

Knowing that he had been fighting at 168, and seeing that he doesn't look like a ripped 175-er, I wonder how much he's motivated.

I remember on Fight Camp 360 he was talking about how weak he felt after the Ward fight, like there was something wrong, then sparked by Johnson... Think somethings wrong with him, in a Matthew Hall kind of way, just over for him I think.

Anyone can spark Green now. That was one of the worst fight I've ever seen.

Barely scraped through against a journeyman, was one of the worst performances I've ever seen.

Watched the Groves fight properly and yeah, I was wrong about the ref. He was right to stop it. Smith's legs did look well gone. He was jelly after the first knockdown.

Burns out-punched and out-landed Katsidis, albeit not by much.

Didn't realise Burns threw so much, he landed the cleaner punches through out the whole fight

Doesn't tell us anything about Burns...Katsidis was woeful....Let's face it a stationery potential victim on the ropes and he doesn't know what to do!!

Not that he had much talent anyway apart from a warrior's heart...

Burns hasn't convinced anybody of anything...Just caught an overachiever at the end of his career....

Kevin Mitchell didn't last 3 rounds with Katsidis, regardless of if he is an overachiever or not... yet Mitchell is once again highly regarded.

Burns walks into the ring as a Lightweight for the first time, pulls off a good win against a formidable big lightweight. What has Burns convinced us? He can fight at lightweight comfortably and beat a guy who was good enough to be in the ring with Marquez and put Marquez down.

As for an overachiever... what has he overachieved in? He won is mandatory Interim fights, earned the right to be in the ring with others. Could have beat Casamayor when he was dangerous. Wouldn't call him an overachiever.
