Burns vs Katsidis
First topic message reminder :
On paper a exciting fight, which i see Burns winning about 116-112 on scorecards.
However burns is a 5/4 underdog in this fight, Is there something that am missing?
Katsidis is a tough fighter with good power but is a contender level fighter where as Burns in my opinion is World Class.
I dont see katsidis as being the bigger man although Burns is coming up he was a Vey big Super Featherweight fighter. Is there a reason why Katsidis is the favourite that am not seeing and who do you guys see winning this?
Burns has this one Right?

I guess to answer my original post, I wasn't missing anything.
That Groves vs Smith fight had a early stoppage, smith wasn't that badly hurt. Groves would have still won but the fight should have gone on.

Smith couldn't stand he was complaining about the stoppage while falling backwards. Don't really have any problem with that stoppage.

I thought that was because of the referee screwing up his balance by holding himmDass wrote:Smith couldn't stand he was complaining about the stoppage while falling backwards. Don't really have any problem with that stoppage.

Nah his legs were gone, if you watch when he stands after the first KD his legs are doing little jumps as there's nothing there. His mind was still fine but not his legs. That's why the second shot sent him down so easy, wasn't even that good a shot just anything would have put Smith over with his legs like that.

Personally I thought the Smith stoppage was a bit early. I'll have to watch it again a not more sober.

Nah he was gone mate, His legs were all over the place, thats why he went down after a partially blocked shot straight after, nothing left, would have just taken a beating. Didn't know where he was in his corner, he was out of it mate.

I was at the bar and missed it, only saw the replay, which was a bit selective. Fair play to Georgie boy, he's made a statement in taking seven rounds less than the amazing horse-faced boy took. I was worried Groves might be dragged into Smith's fight, but the boy done good.

Good thing to see after that shot in the first was how angry Groves was with himself, he knew what he'd done wrong and looks like the kind of fighter who can fix those those mistakes during a fight.

Gotta say, I like Groves a lot. Not anywhere near D4/Pacquiao levels, but he's one to watch.

Nah Bute going through the gears and beating back Johnson every time. Easy fight, has done this far more impressively than Froch may add.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
How tall is Bute? He looks huge compared to Johnson. I like Johnson, he always gives a decent account of himself, he provides a challenge, but not particularly dangerous anymore.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
Johnson's at the stage now where he has such a wealth of experience that he knows exactly how to pace himself, and how to make the other guy work for it. Guys like him are under-rated.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
The guy is something else (Johnson) just a tough tough guy, knows how to not take shots 100% clean always gives a good account of himself and has a good ledger of wins on him as well, sort of in a similar to the Katsidis' of this world, you know when you beat him you have been in a fight, 'cept Bute here breaking him down rather easily.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
Yeah I noticed he looked a good bit taller at the weigh-in/face-off. Fair play, he's put on a good performance. It's tempered a bit by the fact Johnson's just lost to Froch.

Was a bit of a naph fight but he was very solid, kept him at bay he knows exactly what he wanted to do and easily did it.

I didn't realise Johnson and Bute were good mates. That puts it in a bit of a different light.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
Think the analysts are being a bit harsh on Bute, think he clearly is the real deal but I do think he should have maybe pushed for the stoppage to be honest.

Yeah a slight disappointment of a fight with Johnson never really being allowed into it. The Angulo v Kirkland fight should be a interesting encounter later on, fancy Angulo myself.
