Who goes?...............You decide

Ok here is the deal; You vote for the poster which you think should leave the 606v2 golf boards. The person with the most votes must exclusively post in the boxing and wrestling forums for a set period of time.

The amount of time spent banished to the wrestling and boxing forums will be determined by the voters. When voting also post a period of time, the average of these times will set the length of exile for the person with the most votes.

I have put myself and super up for vote, if anyone strongly feels there is a better candidate they will be added.

Not worth voting for as neither need to go, and it makes good reading as it brightens my day. You both just love winding each other up and would bet that you're really Scottish twins and Mac stole SR's beano a few years ago. I expect the mods are discussing this as we speak. I wouldn't like to see either poster go either, though the prospect of them dealing with the boxing crowd for a few days does fill me with a little bit of glee

I enjoy reading the spats too much to banish either of you. Morecambe without Wise, Corbett without Barker etc etc. It just wouldn't be the same.

Having said that...anyone stating the Keizo is a legend does deserve some sort of humiliation bestowed upon them!!

It is with a heavy heart (actually not so heavy) that I have voted. Of the candidates, one has some strange views and the other typifies the school bully. This country seems not to treat the school bully with the contempt he or she deserves. In my own small way I have stood up for the victim.

As for the vote, well it looks like I could soon be on my way. I honestly thought I would win this little contest.

Mac, never underestimate the conservative/Conservative nature of your average golfer.

I wouldn't want anyone to be forced from the board, even in a self imposed exile as Mac seems to be hell bent on doing. We wouldn't want the forum to end up like the tumbleweed of the Football forums would we?

Definately not voting on this. As I feel both contribute a great deal to the board enjoy debate, mud slinging and the like with both.

Be interesting to see the outcome, but also feel people should have the courage of their convictions and state why

I'm more interested in why Mac felt the need in the first place.
I disagree with OP and Diggers on virtually everything and sometimes it can get a bit heated but I wouldn't want either of them to disappear and serve a pennance in the wrestling forum.
Good debate, differing opinions,a bit of mud slinging and light ridicule is what keeps the forum going and what makes the Golf pages better than the others. It's true that Mac makes himself an easy target, but I think he is old enough to take the flak (even if his girlfriend isn't )

I hadn't realised they'd stepped-down. Not that that changes anything.

I had hoped part of the reason this forum was set-up was that we didn't have the BBC's nanny-state grip on things. Filtering words is pathetic.

I would never advocate profanity to be widespread but the starting point should be that we're trusted to keep it in context. We never had the option.

And not being able to discuss certain topics like religion because the thread develops from the original point is very frustrating.

I never had a problem with Mav (maybe he didn't do anything ). I thought Davie was too strict on a couple of occasions but most of my sighs came as the result of actions from other (non-golf) Mods on other sections.

Chalk and cheese maybe, but a better analogy would be Clough and Taylor. Worked great together but 2 completley different personalties who were not as good individually. So this board will lose out without both.

Maybe take it in turns and do a bit of role reversal week by week

Almost sounds like theres a bit of love for the job Davie and I carried out. In all honesty we did try to be as fair as we could sometimes we got it wrong, but generally speaking we let a lot go as it was for the good of the board, there are other boards that are more heavily mod'd.

We both resigned at the same time not because we did not wish to carry out the role on behalf of the golf posters, but out of principle in support of the posters on the board

Guys - can you just please bear with me for 5 minutes whilst I type up a response of sorts.

Just wanted to address a couple of things that have been brought up on this thread.

firstly, the thread itself. A bit silly but every section has its silly threads. And why not (as long as they are not about Happy Gilmore, God forbid).

All that I ask is that if whoever loses (looking like Mac), does not go and WUM in other sections. Take part sure, but if you start getting confrontational towards the regular posters in there, irrespective of how clever you think you are being, it will be frowned upon severely - especially after this friendly warning.

Thats all I have to say about that although it does lead into my response to the other comments.

The reason we put those rules and warnings in place is for the good of the board. You start wumming the boxers/ wrestlers, they retaliate. Then you have t4t situation that benefits no one but is to the detriment of the board.

This is why we make all of our decisions on here. Not to be popular or have some power over the members.

We started this board to stay in touch with the friends we have made on 606. It was started by members of the wrestling board. You guys were the first to join us followed by Boxing, rugby and tennis.

However, as it grew, a few of us wanted more - we started promoting the site, started getting Q&As, link ups etc.

Most of you want to just chat and thats fine. But some of us had real ambitions for what this site has become and could be.

The golf section could be even more popular than it is, as could some of the other sections. But to grow it to where we would like, we must have some rules in place. Those rules are set by the admin and enforced by the mods. None of whom get paid but do get a load of hassle and abuse for their troubles.

All we want from the forum is for it to grow and be a nice place for new people to join. That is the over riding mantra.

Sometimes we make mistakes - whether that be banning people too quickly or not quickly enough. However, these decisions are discussed behind closed doors to ensure that we make better calls next time for the better of us all. The current teams are all behind the way things are run, even if there are disagreements along the way. But we all understand the importance of keeping things private.

Otherwise, it descends into a slanging match over particular members that benefits no one. All that happens is that members/ mods/ admins fall out. And this will not change. You may disagree with the way things are ran, but I assure you that they are all carefully considered and reviewed.

Which leads me on to my last point about Davie and Maverick.

Davie has been here since the beginning and has done an incredible amount of work for the forum. It is no secret that we have bumped heads over things on many occassions but that doesnt cloud my judgement over what he has done for this forum.

Both Davie and Mav unfortunately could not come to agreement over the actions of last weeks bannings. Things like this happen and unfortunately, the two of them quit in principle. There were no other Machiavellian reasons other than they felt their positions had been compromised. If they wanted to return to their positions, they would be welcomed.

However, what I cant let stand on this thread is that they have been over modding you or been harsh on you.

Far from it - they have had your best interest at heart at all times. They know you guys better than the other mods/ admins and have stuck up for you when others have been calling for your heads (me included). They should be commended not condemned by you.

Having said that, it is your collective responsibility to play by the rules. I would have thought you "no spikes in the bar" lot would appreciate the sanctimonity of rules more than anyone else. For example, you may be adults when it comes to swearing but you only need to take a look at other sections to see that their are plenty who are not.

I will reopen the thread in 5 for you to carry on but all I ask is that you treat this place, Davie, Mav, the mods and Admins with respect. We do a lot for no reward and are not malicious despite what you may think.

This forum is a fantastic place to post - we want it to get better but it cannot be achieved alone - we all need to do our part.

I would also like to add one thing that I didnt in my opening response.

The other Mods and Admins do a fantastic job as well, and deserve respect.

Just because you dont get to know them like Davie and Mav, does not mean that they dont put in time and effort.

Every single member of the team, and it is a team, works thanklessly on your behalf.

WTF is there to be so disagreeable about that we have golf mods protecting golf forum users from being banned by other mods?

I don't think anyone on the Golf Board thinks you work "thanklessly", even some of those yellow-carded acknowledged that there have to be some rules, whether or not everyone agrees with them.

I know the overwhelming sentiment on here is appreciative of the forum; the issue last week was a classic retaliator getting sanctioned where the instigator may have escaped any censure. Suarez can only topple over so many times with impunity, if you like, before Joey Barton (other brands may apply) headbutts him.

In this case, keizo knows exactly what he's doing; some of us tolerate him, others not so much, but the tipping point is an outside body (i.e. not a much appreciated Golf Mod) removing respected members unless the retaliation is completely beyond the pale (in which case doutless a Golf Mod would have acted anyway, as in the past).

Anyway, I think we all thank you and your colleagues for the forum; if we didn't we would have gone elsewhere don't you think?

In all honesty I don't think anyone has openly disrepected either myself or Davie on the golf boards. There may have been occaisions when posters were not happy with out actions, but they always questioned us directly and we responded appropriately as we always tried to communicate as much as we could with posters over what was going on. On some occaisions we may have seemed to lenient but it allowed topics to flow.

I may be blowing the golf boards trumpet here, but from all of the sports and boards on here I find it to be the fairest with the posters also enjoying the debate without it boiling over. I also think all of the posters on here are very appreciative of the fact we have this place to call home and appreciate that there are those that give up their time to make this place run.

The issue is that most if not all, feel that the guys that were banned were done so on the back of something/someone that comes on here posts inlfammatory threads then disappears yet no action has been agreed to difuse it a root cause. No better example than that of Kwini's above re:Joey Barton.

I can't speak for Davie here, but I'd like to think if there was support from the golf posters to have us re-instated then it would be considered both by the admin teams and by us of course that would mean thinking things through and also I think there'd have to be changes too but thats for another time and place

I have not voted yet, and as the voting is that close then my vote could make it a draw, I will do so if we can have a re-match in 12 months time???

I seriously hope that Mav and Davie never resigned over the Keizo issue. I know I didnt give a monkeys about being banned for 24 hours and it was fully deserved to be honest...but worth it.
I have a good read of a lot of the boards and for my money they were the best two mods on the site........shocking posters mind you constantly spouting rubbish ...but excellent mods.

The golf forum does not require moderation provided it is not invaded by numpties from other fora.

I don't like the idea of moderators from elsewhere moderating the golf board. I would want Davie and Mav to be reinstated if this is the case.
