How do you mark your ball?
There have been quite a few contentious threads over the last few days so here is a quick and easy one to lighten the mood.
How do you mark your ball and have you changed your method much over the years? What influenced you to mark it how you do?
I mark mine with a black blob over the number. Have done this for years, never seen anyone else use the same marking. Found out recently RMac (sic) marks his ball the same way. The good thing about this method is I don't have to remember what number of ball I'm playing

I take it then d4s that you have never had to play a provisional?...
Two black dots below the number, same the other side of the ball for me...always marked like that, where do you think Lee got the idea from?

I draw a picture of Mac on my ball, and line it up towards the club face.

Re: How do you mark your ball?
Use one red dot next to right side of the number on each side of the ball.
Also have a smiley somewhere on the ball in same red. Started this on my wife's golf balls as it helped cheer her up during a particularly bad period on the course (sad but true) and it somehow leaked onto my golf balls (even sadder I know)
Have been known to leave it off if playing in outside Opens though!

I used to draw a on my ball, until I discovered golfdotz.
Now I just press on a small green shamrock onto my ball, and I have a permanent mark.
Simples....

I wonder how Mac marks his Penfold Hearts or Dunlop 65, with a quill pen perhaps?

On that basis my moniker should be 'driveitinthecabbage'

Re: How do you mark your ball?
I will mark my ball in the way that turns out to be the most popular so I have more chance of claiming another ball is mine when I go into the cabbage.
At the moment I mark it with my initials in small writing just to the right of the number on each side.

A circle round the number - only seen one other person do that in the last 10 years

Re: How do you mark your ball?
It depends, normally 1 or 2 blue dots around the number or logo and then a cheater line.
If I am playing a Nike I place the dots around the swoosh so it looks like a %
If the logo has an i in it such as Titleist or Srixon I then dot the i
After writing this I have to come to the conclusion that I have sad ball marking tendencies.

Small blue triangle - above the manufacturer's name on one side and below it on the other.

Re: How do you mark your ball?
I use a purple circle round the number and if/when hitting a provisional I fill in the middle of the ring in black.

Re: How do you mark your ball?
A green stripe covering the line that Titleist put on to help line up putts - which I never make use of. I like to look at a white ball with no markings showing when I putt. And the green stripe always faces towards the hole. Ritualistic or what!

Re: How do you mark your ball?
I take a line on a prominent feature on the course, usually a tree, and then walk towards it, not veering from the line and trying to keep an eye on the line I have marked. If I have marked correctly, somewhere along that line in the umbalah will be my ball...............probably showing 2 black dots above the name
