India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
First topic message reminder :
Discuss today's T20 here fellas. Another India win do we reckon, or are England finally going to turn it on in the shortest of formats?

Re: India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
Not a typical limited over pitch so batting won't be all easy , but if you know you only need 6 per over I reckon most teams would fancy this chase.
Chance for England to get some points from the tour ...

Apparently going to see a lot of spin here ...both ends.
Certainly a bit of turn there but I'm not sure this is such a great tactic from Dhoni...we shall see.
Now Jajeda's turn...

I have been quite impressed with Jajeda in this series. Forgettable for Kieswetter though...

These young players India have brought in to the ODI team have done wonders for the fielding.
OK , one dropped catch but generally they've been excellent.
Good over there for KP and England

some seam. Pathan has taken some stick (depite the wicket) and I did say I thought India were a bowler light here...

more fine batting from KP, manipulating the field to perfection. It's a shame the crowd don't seem to be able to appreciate it...

Pietersen murdering them now...if he stays for three or four more overs it is all over.
Patel joining in - looking good for England. <we need a crossed fingers icon>

KP reaches fifty, and then Patel plays a daft shot to throw his wicket away

Fine fifty KP
That drop really cost India...
Patel out now , but England are cruising this.

Re: India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
dropping KP when he was on 1 could be the difference in this game as england would have been in trouble then
KP gone
surely even england cant blow it from here

KP gone, switch hitting. Lovely innings though and England should really cruise home from here

And KP goes - pity he couldn't see them home , but it gives Bairstow a chance to finish the job ...

Re: India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
Hmmm think that was a very lousy decision KP got there, right arm round, and didn't turn, so surely pitched outside leg

Yes I thought it pitched outside leg too ... umpire probably got confused with the switch stance thing

Good win England ... well done
Very good day for KP , Patel, Bopara and Finn in particular , but I'm sure they will all feel a bit better having finished a generally disappointing tour with a win...

Re: India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
Good win.
what a shock to see the bbc so flat after getting so over the top when India won. sad.
Eng needed that. Overall a fantastic year. They still need to get the ODI format sorted, other forms look much better.

Re: India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
it's odd though isn't it that we're so good at tests and T20s and seem to have exactly the right tactics for both those forms (most often anyway), but for some reason we just can't get it right in the 50 over game.

Re: India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
yep, just do not seem able to do it.
i remember a time we were doing better at that but then poor at tests. We never seem to master all of them.
I'd rather be good at tests though.

Mad for Chelsea - yes, it is odd. I wonder if the role of the captain is actually more important to the outcome of 50 over games than other international formats.
Tests are so long that class will generally out whilst t20s are so short that they'll be won by a mix of ability and good fortune.
I wouldn't die in a ditch defending this view but I think it's worth considering.

Sorry couldn't join you for this fellas.
Seems it was a good performance. Huge well done to KP and Finn, two of our standouts across this entire tour.

Definately agree about captaincy - I have always thought that tactics play the biggest part in the 40 and 50 over games.

Of course not wanting to stir or anything, but I notice a distinct lack of Indian Supporters(and Gregers) on this discussion...
Re: India vs England Twenty20 Discussion
Haha Gregers said KP did ok...that's a huge compliment from him, given his irrational dislike of the big man!
