ATP 500 Basel 2011
First topic message reminder :
After a long pre off-season season, a week of delicious tennis is upon us.
The field is studded with top hard-courters lead by The Best, the In-Hot-Form and the Goat, formerly known as the local ball-boy.
Also in Basel we have: Berdych, Wawrinka, Fish, Tispsarevic, Roddick, Ljubicic.
The tournament sounds great on paper, and it's a shame we are missing French players Tsonga and Monfils.
The big question has been answered: Federer falls in Murray's half (cooo, I must say that sounds weird...)
The draw:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2011/328/mds.pdf
Matches start tomorrow, with the "big" names probably starting on Tuesday, Nole's first match against Malisse starts at 17.30.
Order of play (the final) for Sunday, 6th of November
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2011/328/op.pdf
Provided he continues where he stopped in September form-wise, Nole should get through his half safely. The juicy question is: who will be on the other side of the net this time next week?

I am surprised to see that Valencia has a bigger budget than Basle. You would expect that with the big names playing in Basel, it woudl have more rewarding money.
I guess all the money from Basel went into the guest fees.
Life is so unfair for a TD!

Guilty as charged. . What should I do to repent? Should I exile myself from 606v2?

well, you can mock me for all you like...I could've been a selfish coward and said nothing, but despite knowing what was going to come, I went on and said it. Not for my sake. Anyway, back to tennis now, some nice matches on, look forward to seeing how Nole handles Baghdatis' consistency.

Time please and anyone else who responded that I shouldn't comment on something that was said on another site.
Fair enough. Sometimes things need to be said and its cowardly not to say them. I accept here is not the place as long as similar views are not expressed here.

I had no intentions of mocking you, NitB. If that is how it came across, my humble apologies. I shall refrain from divine references and be sensitive.
Once again, my apologies.

Returning terrible from Nole, 20% first serve returns won. Needs to change something, 6-2 Baghdaddy first set.

Only saw the last game of the first set! Quite impressive but I haven't seen enough of Djoko to understand such a once sided score.....62 Bagdhatis.

well well well. Baggy gives Djokovic something of a hiding in that first set. Fantastic serving from the Cypriot as he faces no break points all set and bangs down 6 aces on his way to a 6-2.

Baggy rather gifted that one, but that's what the best players do, they hang in there even when they're not playing that well, and pounce at the right moment. Baggy seems to have gone walkabout all of a sudden

Re: ATP 500 Basel 2011
Djokovic takes the second set 6-2, upping his level somewhat, while Baggy seemed to completely lose the plot after sticking with him in the early part of the set. Strange match this one really, some lovely winners mixing with some ordinary errors.

Baggy has lost it completely, gifting away another break of serve off some awful forehands. Odd how one can lose the plot so badly after a good first set

Weird really. I think he had 2 points for 3 all in the second set. He was playing amazing until then.

one point. Then he threw up two successive DFs and an awful forehand (which has gone completely AWOL now), and that was pretty much that. You see this so often though from the players ranked 20-50 or so. Over a set or so they can play some great stuff but it's extremely rare for them to keep it up.

Stan has a better chance of beating Federer, as compared to Nishikori beating Djokovic. .
Despite errors in the Roddick match, Federer, is the more likely winner.
