Burns or Katsidis?
Burns vs Katsidis
How do you see this going?
I see Burns out working Katsidis to a points victory. Katsidis said after the Guerrero fight he was struggling to make 135lbs. He fought Lozada in his last fight at 140lbs. I think Burns is to fresh and can have to high a punch output for Katsidis. I think it will be tight after 6 but then Burns engine will see him through the later rounds and take it on points.
The jab and his straight right are the key for Burns imo. He needs to keep Kats at distance which won't be easy but it isn't impossible.

Swinging towards Burns, as Kats was laboured in his last fight and struggled to get anything going for 11 of the rounds vs Guerrero. But he seemed to have been working on body punching and can see him slowing Burns down to a late stoppage.

Looking forward to this one, not least for Burns' entrance music! (Hopefully he won't be wearing pink again though.)
I've gone for Katsidis by late stoppage, he stopped Lozada with a devastating body shot and I can see the same thing happening here.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
I think Burns may surprise a few people and nick a win on points here. I'm not all that sold on him when it comes to the very top class, but Katsidis doesn't belong in that bracket. If it goes past four or five rounds, Katsidis hasn't got a prayer, at least to me anyhow. I think Burns weathers the early storm and takes control in the mid rounds. Katsidis will tire after setting a blazing pace early on and won't be able to deal with Burns' sharper boxing skills. Burns by decision, close but not controversial.
Will probably be totally wrong now, but oh well!

Given my record in last season's UCPL and the fact that I've gone for Kats by KO, you should be ok there Chris...

Burns UD for me - as long as he concentrates on avoiding the power shots early - Kats will slow down - and then hopefully pick him off from distance. Kats seems to be fading now and Burns looks sharper than ever.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
Narrow points win for Burns I reckon, helped by 'home' advantage. I've gone for a SD on UCPL and I'm sticking with that.
Kats to look a complete mess by the end but still going strong.

I've gone for Burns MD.
I think it will be a closely contested fight with Burn suffering a few scares along the way but ultimately outworking Katsidis to the decision.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
He gave Guerrero some pretty hairy moments with his sustained body attacks in the mid rounds. If the ref wasnt as quick to punish him Guerrero could have found it very awkward keeping him at bay.
The only way I think Burns wins this is if there is something wrong with Katsidas in terms of weight/wear and tear. To be honest I didnt think he looked that bad against Guerrero I just think he was up against a classier boxer. But he absorbed a heck of alot of punishment, had Guerrero down and also gave him problems so Im not convinced he is as washed up as some think.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
Katsidis beats all but the very best in the divisions. Whether or not Burns is in that elite group remains to be seen...although it apears unlikely.
How much Katsidis has left at this stage of his career will be the deciding factor

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
Dont get me wrong I like Burns and want him to win. But Katsidis hits hard. You dont put Marquez down that easy. Maybe if Burns can ride the early storm he can pick up rounds and possibly get it on points. I cant realistically see that happening though. Think this will go the same way as the Mitchell fight only Burns might last longer. Will be betting on Katsidis KO

Re: Burns vs Katsidis
Kats looked very big at 140, I'm not sure he can get back down to 135 and be fresh and active. If he can I confidently back him to stop Burns. If not I think Burns could nick a UD, but equally could get stopped at pretty much any moment.
