The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing picture of newly retired Gareth 'Alfie' Thomas.
Also a special picture of Thomas Domingo and wishing him all the best on a speedy recovery.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Morning all, my plans are similar to Hound's, off to the office after brekkie for a couple of hours then down to Richmond to meet Asbo at London Scottish.

I was intending to head to Richmond and meet up with you guys as well Kiwi, but with the bugs going around this house will have to miss out this time.
Sure you guys will have a blast as always though. I think Scottish have Guy Armitage on loan from us, so will be interested in a report from you on how he goes for them.
Hound, are Ealing top of the table and looking like promotion contenders again this year?

To be fair, they're fairly robust and would probably be ok As, it's me that's feeling like death warmed up and can't face standing out in the cold all afternoon.
And the fact that Irish are on the box at 3 has not swayed my decision either way of course

Awh Pete illness sucks - hope everyone gets better very soon, and you can enjoy a relaxing weekend.
I've done my grocery shop early this morning, so I'll do a couple of chores around the house before going to meet the others this afternoon.
, Kiwi and Asbo - hope you enjoy the matches and there's no rain.

Morning, disapppointing game last night but that was to be expected. Leinster have a lot to be concerned with too.

Bummer about the result Thomond....they can always get their own back when Leinster visit Thomond Park for the reverse fixture though

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I think Irish rugby generally needed that one to be a corker. As it is the positives from a decade of HC glory were shaken in New Zealand and seem even less certain this morning. If BOD doesn't retire graciously at the end of this season, he should be dropped. He is like a mighty but aged oak, suffocating the saplings.

Hi all. Thought yesterdays game was peculiar match. I'll write an article about it later.
Glas I reckon BOD simply isn't up for playing like a modern 13 any more. Tuilagi, Smith, Fourie, Ashley Cooper - thats how you want your 13 to be playing.
The laws have changed over last 18 months and 13 is becoming a much more attacking strike runner position.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Pete, in answer to your earlier post. Ealing are 7 points clear having won 9 of 10 so far. However, they may struggle when the grounds get heavy. A further promotion would be a step too soon I feel, and I expect Coventry, Cambridge and Fylde to feature at the top come the end of the season.

Bonus time. We've got Toulouse v USAP on in the pub before heading to Vallis Way. And Hook has just nailed a monster drop goal to put USAP 10-9 up.

Sheee-it,
12-9 to Toulouse at HT and I haven't seen any of it.I forgot that I had to prepare 3 sample lunch main dishes,by tomorrow midday, to get the contract at the local bistro. With a meagre pension in the offing, any work is welcome;I've done "Saute de pig in a cream, white wine and fenugreek sauce," chilliblydi con Meat, and am about to start Polpetes(veal and cheese deep fried "meat" balls with a tomato and origano sauce.Hope it's finished before the ASM game

He's having a good game cari. Hit the post with a 52m pen and USAP go into the lead with another try, and Hook adds the extras from wide out. 12-17 now.
McAllister playing well for a lacklustre Toulouse.

Leicester 13 Irish 7 at half time.
Leicester are a cracking side, and they fully deserve to be in the lead, having had 75% possession in the first half, but feic me, they get away with loads of illegal play.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Absolute farce.
Croft goes for the line, stretches, knocks on, Irish player then knocks on trying to recover, Agulla picks up and dots down.
TMO = TRY
Can't rule on the Croft knock on as not in the act of scoring.
Not happy!!!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That will give us confidence Gibbo, just a shame that both Ojo and Tagicakibau went off injured. If Delon gets banned at his hearing on Monday then we are down to the bare bones in the back three with JJ and Yarde both out until after Christmas and Ansbro out for another couple of weeks with a damaged rib.
Will be down to the AASE boys I think, and 17 year old Anthony Watson will probably get the nod on one of the wings.

Anyone see this...
I think I'm all 4. Maybe leaning towards Hawkeye and an Independent woman.

One could so easily attribute some of those character traits to the regs.. but NO way!

Scrappy first half at Ravenhill but tries either side of half time have us ahead.

Pete I really think youve got HEC quarters written all over you this year.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Absolutely no-one on here discussing the Ulster game- even outside? Shame. It was a proper full-blooded interpro. Totally committed and a MUCH improved performance from Ulster. Just still knocking the ball on too much, but big progress made.
And another great chance for a BP missed too. 3 tries scored and we dominated the second half but knocked on four or five times in or around the Connacht 22 including once over the line (good defence that time rather than bad hands).

Staggy/Pete, are you lads having a laugh? Not a chance. Irish need to concentrate on the league, essential to avoid missing out on an HC place (plus revenue) next year. The youngsters will turn it on once in a while, but no way will they manage an HC pool campaign?red_stag wrote:Pete I really think youve got HEC quarters written all over you this year.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
It's hanging well man, I am loving my course. I am having a blast really. But right now I'm completely knackered. Today was the Ulster Junior Cross Country Championship or whatever, so I spent my 9-5 on Saturday directing buses around in the cold. Then I went to stand in Ravenhill watching Ulster in the cold. My feet hate me for it but we won so it's all ok! How are you?
Right now my favourite guitarists are Nels Cline from Wilco and Christian Fennesz- but surely if you're going to go classic rock you can't overlook Hendrix? I still listen to him and just shake my head man.

I know that we can beat every team in our pool, both at home and away, we have a lot of talent in the side, in particular in the backs, but equally we could lose to every one of these sides home or away. I'll settle for decent performances in the Heino but no QF if it means we can maintain a challenge in the AP and pinch a play off place, which has to be our target.
