The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing picture of newly retired Gareth 'Alfie' Thomas.
Also a special picture of Thomas Domingo and wishing him all the best on a speedy recovery.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Munster, I have to say I think you'd be a brilliant primary school teacher. I've seen you with kids that age and you're a natural. Plus I think you'd be great at inspiring little minds, they're still curious and open to ideas at that age, before hormones and attitude set in
Would there be some kind of top-up course or conversion course you could do in Ireland that would enable you to go back?
And go for the Tanzania opportunity, you'll kick yourself later if you don't. I can't speak for your parents, but I wonder if it's the distance that concerns them. Yes I know you're away from home now but it's really not far or difficult for you to get home/them to visit you.

Munsty, sometimes, just sometimes.. you have to go your own way. Take the advice in. They are very smart people... but its your Life.
Talk to as many people (with the experience) as you can about it Munsty. Then - make your mind up.
And what is this bollix on a degree in England not being good enough for the same discipline in Ireland and/or vice-versa?
Jebus, ye would swear the EU would get a handle on that. When they(Germany) get the shekels sorted out 1st that is...

Munsty - It sounds like a good opportunity for you and it'd be a shame for you to miss out because your parents aren't happy about it. You are an adult and can do what you like. Anyway that's just my view, I don't come from a family like yours, so I'm probably not the best person to comment.

Swanny: putting my professional head on (I know shocking I have one!) The job centre etc should have something like re-act HOWEVER it will be under a different name and probably different juristictions. Only thing I've found with schemes like that is they take you in, tick the box then get rid of you into insecure employment.
I can use my contacts to see what training etc may be available with regards to work. Just p.m me any questions regarding employment and training and I'll abuse my contacts!

Hoi Cari.
Yeah. My lads got different education/career advice from MrsG and I. They ignored us both after they got their Bacs. Both went to work and then one went back to Uni to get his Masters, after he experienced the glass-ceiling. They both then found their own way. Son No.1 is also considering doing a part-time design degree now. Told him to go for it. He's a natural.
One Life. No regrets.

Munsty, there is a huge shortage of male roll models for primary school children. A male primary teacher would make a huge difference for the kids. In our school there were 9 boys in our year. Our headmaster was rugby mad and under his guidance we won the district schools 7 a side competition. Of those nine we are: an architect, a store manager, a triathlete, a solicitor, a Police Inspector, a Police Sergeant, a professional rugby player, a WRU development officer and an MP. It's when it's young you should train an oak. You'd be ace at it.
In other news I'm looking for the guarantee on my back as it is definitely defective.

Munsty
I can only echo what others have already said my friend, and that is that you would be a fantastic primary teacher. I have seen you with one of my own primary aged children, and they just take to you.
Tanzania is a real opportunity for you, and one that whatever obstacles are placed in your way, you should try to embrace with both hands.
If you need to sound off or just throw some ideas out there for discussion to be sure of your own thoughts you know where we all are.
Evening all
How goes it?

Munsty, being a parent myself I can understand the concerns of your parents but you are a young adult and you will regret not doing what is in your own heart and head. Not that I think it will happen with you mind, but we have to make our own mistakes to appreciate where we end up. Gibbo will know what I mean.
Glas, I do hope you are getting some proper treatment for your back.

Totally agree Ozzy. Kids can see sincerity and warmth, in a flat second. Munsty has it in spades.
I also think our friend - the Hugmeister, would make a brilliant teacher for young kids. Definitely in the Sports area.
Its a key time in a persons life. Primary School. That age and you can help form them. Later.. its not so easy.
What with our Prop doing the biz at his field... the Future is brighter with these lads in it.
Just made a mean Rogan Josh. Its well... its just mouth-wataring... 13 erbs & spices combined to make it so.

Bad news about BOD, or maybe a blessing in disguise? Certainly makes Leinsters Heino games a bit more interesting.

Am just watching a film called Lesbian Vampire Killers.
What a load of old shoite!!! But it's one of them that's so bad you have to keep watching.
I have had a very productive day today. In the main I have spent most of my time WUMMING the Tigers fans on their forum. They have their own league table on there for the AP but only for games since the World Cup finished. I suspect they will be petitioning the RFU soon to have it replace the real AP table!

It would appear from reading some of their posts Rava, that they are only really concerned about facing ASM, which if that is the players attitude as well, should suit your boys down to the ground.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I hated primary school. Thought it was all dopey. I have one friend from my primary school days - the rest (and there was 30 kids in my class) I don't talk to anymore. The teachers were poor and I don't feel it contributed much to who I am now.
By contrast I felt that secondary school seriously shaped me. I know for 100% that most of who I am is down to that school. Those 6 years shaped me more than any years I've known. I remember each individual year and what I took from them. That school gave me some of my best friends, it gave me rugby, it gave me my second language, it gave me social skills (I was a very shy child up until then), it gave me tough to swallow lessons that are fully needed.
If I got any of them in primary school nobody told me about them. I do think I started primary school a little early though (I was 3).

That would be the fans only Pete. Leicester are too professional to go into any game expecting to win without earning it. I was impressed by the LI performance on Sat. but I was equally impressed at times with the Leicester pack. IF we get a result this week I expect to go there and have a real go. Not sure how we will react if ASM beat us though.
Anyway I'm staying positive this week

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Their pack is very strong and their biggest strength, but perversely is also actually their achilles heal at present. They were so dominant against us up front, that they at times kept the ball there for too long, rather than taking the opportunity to release their backs when they would have had men over having drawn some of our back in to assist our ailing pack.
I think if you can match them up front, or get close to matching them up front then you could have the beating of them, even at Welford Road.

Glad to hear this, it would have been ridiculous:

I do however think that the IRB should look at this 'tip tackle' business though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I think Saracens will finish top and Quins will finish 2nd, so they secure the home semis.
After that it is any two from 8 really, with only Worcester and Newcastle with no chance at all of making the play offs.
Tigers and Saints would be favourites for spots 3 and 4, but they could stutter a bit come the 6 Nations, and the Heino may also take it's toll if they have good runs. If I had to predict I would say that one of the two of them will make it, probably Leicester, with one of Irish, Bath, Glaws or Sale making up the final four.

Pete I would go for Saints at this stage for a top four and one from Irish/Glaws/ Leicester.
I can't see Sale making it and Bath will be too pre-occupied with challenging for the HC

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I can see Saints hitting a poor run after Christmas to be honest. Lamb is doing what he did when he came to us and has started the year in fine fettle at 10 for them. A couple of poor games and he could implode and they'll have to bring Myler back in, and he tends to take a while to get into his stride. they will also lose potentially 6 or so players to England for the 6 Nations, and do not have the same depth that Tigers do to overcome that again.
I personally don't see us making the top 4 unless we have a couple of major slices of luck on the way. Going to be fun finding out though.

Hi Gibbo,
The Scarlets will do really well to get out of the pool to be honest, but if they get a good start, you never know.
I think 'himself' is getting over the jetlag now. He's managed to stay awake after 9pm the last couple of nights! Sarries committee meeting tonight though so that's guaranteed to send him to sleep
