Ospreys v Scarlets - Bonfire Night, (Saturday 05/11/11) BOOM!
First topic message reminder :
Liberty Stadium, Swansea. Kick off 6.30 pm. Live on S4C from 6:10pm. Match coverage repeated from 9:00am on S4C Sunday 06/11/11.
Roll up! Roll up! It's the West Wales derby Part One - can the Scarlets beat the Ospreys for the first time at the Liberty since 2007 or will the Ospreys determination to make up for the loss they incurred last week in the Rabo spoil the Scarlets party? Their previous meetings have looked like this:
27/12/10 Ospreys 60 - 17 Scarlets
02/10/10 Scarlets 18 - 21 Ospreys
02/04/10 Ospreys 27 - 19 Scarlets
It should be a very exciting encounter, and I can't wait to be there Let the banter begin!

Not a bad team...
Tom smith looked great vs saints.
Stowers looked good as did Fotuali'i in the RWC.
Interesting that there is no back up at flyhalf?

I want that banana character soooo much!
I would use it after a team lost,it would be symbolic to me shaking my Winkle into the face of the fan whos team lost.

Strange, a full back row on the bench and only two backs subs.
The comedy coaching trio are obviously concerned about the legendary Scarlets pack!

Maes, Fotuali'i can play 9 and 10 so i'm guessing he's cover.
Looks like Bowe's being centre cover... Not sure who moves to 15 if there's an injury, possibly Biggar.
Can't wait, should be a cracking match, hope the Scarlets name a stong side.

Can't believe it but can't go to the game now - Gutted. Too much bleeding work to do - I guess this is what you get for trying to develop your professional career. I have the Blues/Dragons game as a sop instead, it's not the same (everyone knows the best rugby is played down West )

On the web page they have Sean Holley down as Osprey Head Coach (is that right?) and Nigel down for the Scarlets, but no team.

Priest - just seen your post. hard luck on not being able to make the match
Also latest ticket sales are looking at about 10,500 (apparently, that could be completely wrong!), so not great. Hope they have a lot of drive up/walk up people tomorrow to boost numbers.

Priest - bummer about that mate. Are you watching it on TV though? It's repeated on Sunday morning if you can watch it live.
I still think a lot more people will head to the match on the night. Ideal night for it.

My parents take my nephew to every home game that they can. They don't buy season tickets because they like to sit somewhere different every match. There will be plenty like them I imagine. Do you remember that game when the cues in the ticket office were still 100 yards long a quarter of an hour into the match!

Re: Ospreys v Scarlets - Bonfire Night, (Saturday 05/11/11) BOOM!
It's not good just 10,000 sold so far - but I agree with a lot of other people that there will be at least a few thousand picking up tickets on the day.
Cheers dreamer and Cari - I'm going to have to do with watching the match on S4C, luckily I speak Welsh and the commentary is usually pretty good (except when talking about the technicalities of the Scrum, or any new rules). I think I will choose kick off time to take a break from my work for say around 80 mins and then go back to the grindstone.
Still it should be a good game, I'll have to go down for the next game at PYS. I'm tempting to Grow a Grav, but I did Movember last year and my moutache was pitiful (people kept asking my in the 3rd week why I'd stopped doing it as they thought I'd shaved lol) so maybe not

It's funny coz I can't grow a beard like Brian Blessed (even ginger, which isn't a good look) but the tache part looks like a pre-pubescent boys attempt at one - I may just pencil one on when I go to games, it would look more realistic lol.

Re: Ospreys v Scarlets - Bonfire Night, (Saturday 05/11/11) BOOM!
ha yep, you'll enjoy that!
No Fenby though, but glad to see Liam Williams has been picked over him on the back of what's been some really, really good performances. A huge game for him.
Glas - agreed. Our pack need to turn up mentally though and we need to protect the ball more than we did against Ulster. We are far too slow at getting to the breakdown. And it's going to be such a key area with Tipuric playing.
Excited now! Still v apprehensive though. I think we can run them close, would expect minimum LBP, but the win.....ooo I hope so.

Looks a good side - nice to see a strong half back patrnership - but whats happened to Tipuna (sp?) he must really not have got upto pace if he's not on the bench and Rhodri Will is favoured.
Looks a good front row and back row - lets hope they play to potential as they really need to up the pace.
PS whats an Abe? Glas a Du

Ahh I see, i think he's a bit too stylish for me but I do like his quiff in that photo!
Like the fact that Welch is get another crack at the whip, hopefully he put's in a performance that means he's undroppable.
I do think that's a pretty strong bench for us (apart from SH)

ah bit worried about cover for TH on the bench, as I don't like Rhodri or Phil to play there. Also no FH cover really, unless we shift Dan Evs up if something happens to Stevo. I know Monty and Liam can play there but it's still a gamble.
I'm the same though, really like that Welch is getting another start. Hope he has a great game proving he's ready for HEC rugby.

Seriously. It should be a good night, and the food they've got there does sound lovely. Hopefully I'll get to sample some of that before kick off. Yum! I hope they get a tidy crowd in too, perhaps now that the teams are out, a few more will turn up.
