Can see Juanma and gamboa being in there. Not sure about Rios, seems crude and beatable. Yet to be convinced by berto either. He'll be 32 by then, still yet to up his level of opposition. Agree donaire will be p4p no1 at some stage, whether it's in 5 years is another question - he'll also be 32 by then which is a fair age for a lower weight fighter. DeGale has the potential to do big things in the sport, I'm a big fan of his.

One name that might not be on people's radar yet is Ismayl Sillakh.
This guy has it all and I fully expect him to top the LHW division in the next few years.

Alvarez is very average in my opinion and will never achieve the amount GBP want for him.

Re: P4P top 10 in 5 years
I'd agree with Sugar Boy in that I'd expect at least one of Juanma Lopez or Gamboa to be in there, Gamboa being more likely. I think Gavin's position is a bit generous; he's a real talent for sure, but I'd have him behind DeGale in that respect and to be honest, the thought of a Warren-managed fighter making the top five of the pound for pound rankings only seven years in to his career (which he'll be by then) doesn't seem all that likely to me, given Warren's track record of his fighters staying at home and missing out on the big fights.
Berto is an accident waiting to happen for me, so I wouldn't have him in there although obviously he could prove us wrong. I actually had high hopes for James Kirkland before his legal issues derailed his career. He's back now and I'll be keeping a close eye on him, as I think his genuine knockout power will make him a real threat at 154 lb and, eventually, 160 lb too. He's my dark horse for a top ten pound for pound spot in the coming years.

Just found this. Only three years in but most on the list looking highly unlikely as a few of those have been found out big style. Anyone up for us doing a new one?

Floyd will be no.1 in five years time. God knows who they will be exhuming to fight him though.

Re: P4P top 10 in 5 years
Floyd won't be fighting in 5 years time, either no need to or he'll be in jail.
Good question though because 5 years isn't far away, the top 10 won't be made of fighters we don't already know....10 P4P in 5 years in no order...
Lomachenko
Alvarez
Kovalev
Golovkin
Bradley
M Garcia
D Garcia
Callum Smith (outsider)
Wilder (if he keeps going !)
Paul Butler ( just because I'm a big fan)
Do you agree? Unlikely, but if not who......

The op doesn't understand how long five years is...I imagine If some of those fighters are in a p4p list in 5 years time..They'll be top 20 fighters alltime in nearly every list apart from Roddy's.....

From a British fighters perspective I think Frampton and Groves (depending upon the Froch fight) could be getting close.
Lomachenko should be expected to be close if not in there.
Kell Brook will be close to securing a final eliminator for the WBC international silver level B champion in waiting title.

Groves won't be in the top 10 p4p list in 5 years..
Too competitive 168 and 175..
He's not that good...

If he beats Froch (current top 10) and avoids Ward in the hope that Ward will step up in weight I can see him having a few routine defences, five years is at most 10 fights for these guys, more likely 5-6.
Think he has a chance of sneaking in, could temp a few of the older 'names' from middle up and feed on them for 1-2 of those.
Current top 10 has Mayweather, Wlad, Martinez, Marquez and Pac who are all likely to be retired in five years.

Re: P4P top 10 in 5 years
Think Framps and Groves could both get in it, but neither will stay.
As Truss says, 5 years is a crazy long time in boxing. Only a few true greats can do it (Floyd, Manny & Ward being the best recent examples, Wlad to greatly assisted by lack of competition).

Can't see Groves getting close especially after he gets schooled by Froch.

Re: P4P top 10 in 5 years
You would imagine the likes of Mayweather, Marquez, Pacman, Wlad will all be gone by the time 2019 rolls around....for the good of the sport I hope they have else we will be subjected to Marquez v Pacman VIII!!
I also can't imagine Ward being in it, he will be 35 come then which while obviously possibly still fighting, given his injuries I think he will be out of the sport within the next 3 years...either that or a young buck will catch him at the right time. Rigondeux & Gamboa will be 38 & 37 respectively and given their lack of star power I don't think they will be amongst the Top 10 either...
Likely names to be around & vying:
Saul Alvarez
Danny Garcia
Mikey Garcia
Vasyl Lomachenko
Adrian Broner (attitude & weight decision permitting)
Carl Frampton
Terrence Crawford
Roman Gonzalez
Keith Thurman
Outsiders:
Groves, Santa Cruz, Wilder, Brook, Charlo brothers, Ioka, Mares...
Big Outsider:
Jessie Magdaleno....Bernard Hopkins

Haha think Hopkins is nailed on! Original post shows how hard this is, but think you have the right names we know about. Its the things we dont know we dont know that will change this in 5 years!
Only name I would throw in is Joshua, long shot as he is so young and untested and most likely the belts will be on a merry go round between fat slobs post Wlad but if anyone can dominate the big division they are more or less guaranteed a spot in the top 10 P4P. Think at the moment Joshua has the biggest chance and in 5 years time he might just be there

Ward
Ioka (Thank to Chris' article!)
GGG
Lomachenko
Mares
Joshua
Mikey Garcia
Frampton
Alverez
Estrada
Gonzalez
Thurman
Figueroa
Ten of those for me from the current known fights, but as people have said this could look very different even in 18 months time.
