Tennis News
This is a thread to post and discuss all trivial tennis news.
Have you heard the one about Serena retreating to her "panic room" at 6am a few days ago calling 911 cause she thought she was being burgled.
It turned out the burglar was a anti-doping tester!
Well I am laughing but I should not. It's not funny!

Re: Tennis News
My tennis news is that I'm a bit sad for Nole's shoulder right now....
As for Serena, yes, that was hilarioius, I can just imagine the guy from the testing squad. AM annoyed no other news came after this was published a few days ago as to did she eventually get tested, and how much was the testing guy paid to keep his mouth shut about the "details"

Re: Tennis News
It highlights the difficulty in getting out of competition drugs tests on these multi-millionaire celebrity tennis players, with their barbed wire high walls, security cameras, killer dobermans, armed guards with automatic weapons, hellipad escape port on top of their immense mansions ... They probably have slaves providing urine for them whenever required.

That's the funny bit. Despite all that they can't make the difference between a burgler and someone knocking politely at the door.
Or maybe they know too well.

Re: Tennis News
Have you heard about European red clay turning blue?
Yep...Madrid 2012 will be played on blue clay!!!! Apparently, it's easier to watch the ball against blue clay than red clay. Of course that was an idea of grotesque Tiriac who managed to get it approved by the ATP despite Federer and Nadal opposing the idea.
Tiriac is also the organiser who wants the tour to adopt bigger balls to slow the game further.
Oh just a detail I almost forgot. Blue clay is 40 times more expensive than ...normal clay.

Yep! Well done Dr Youzhny!
After hammering his racquet on his head, he saw the light!
A great player...though.

And I hope his doctorate gets published, I just now it will make a great read, a bit of that passionate, pensive Slavic soul, unlike the soppy self-pitying Open Agassi overkill

Nole is the best, no need for money to change hands. Until a guilty verdict is reached, no details are ever released by the tennis authorities and even then you get about 2 sentences.

Nole is the Best, you made a comment:
"As for Serena, yes, that was hilarioius, I can just imagine the guy from the testing squad. AM annoyed no other news came after this was published a few days ago as to did she eventually get tested, and how much was the testing guy paid to keep his mouth shut about the "details""
I responded:
"no need for money to change hands. Until a guilty verdict is reached, no details are ever released by the tennis authorities and even then you get about 2 sentences."
Basically I am saying that it is unlikely that a testing guy would have to be paid to leep quiet. Think, when was the last time you saw one making an expose or commenting on anything? Probably never. It is part of their job to quietly collect the data but not comment publically. I doubt you would need to bribe them.

so how did the details then leak into media?

Re: Tennis News
If Serena gave a sample, why doesn't she say publically that she gave a sample? Since there is no benefit to her to hide the fact that she DID give a sample, by not commenting she is bringing suspicion on herself. Some journalist should ask her the question.
Also, if she hid herself in the panic room surely the tester could eventually get the message across to her somehow, even if via the police when they presumably came, and the testing could then go ahead. If not, why not insist on one later that day? Or the next day? The authorities should continue to insist and hassle and badger for a test until she has no choice but to either do it or make an outright refusal to do it. I would be very disappointed if they have done anything less.
Not enough tests are being done, not enough are being done at the right time and too much is being kept secret. At the moment the doping and tennis authorities are not doing a good job of showing the game to be clean for me.

Re: Tennis News
I was thinking more about the fact that it's unlikely the testing person would ever make a comment publically, whether they would leak something it's hard to say. I really don't know. My guess is no because the tennis testing is normally kept under wraps unless a guilty result is finally announced.
I don't know how this story got into the media. It could have been from the police, neighbours, a friend or family of Serena. It could have been any number of things, hard to say.

Although this is old news, the fact it's brought out in the media again doesn't bode well:

Nadal probably knows that's the only way he can last a bit longer before going down for good.

I just want to know how likely is it to happen?
Do you know who proposed it, is ATP behind it, or is it just another one of those end of year media exercises....

Re: Tennis News
Very interesting to read that Federer opposed Kraji. I am not sure the excuse he gave (not enough business experience) is the real one. Kraji may have been if anything too business orientated, a kind of everything for the stars of the game and not much for the rest.
I like the way they say Kraji and Ritchie pulled out but the truth is they, at least one, did not get the job.
Finally, I find it worrying that they can't find a candidate. It's as if no-one wants the job cause they know something cooking (not enough funds, big sport crisis coming up or else...).
