Burns v Mitchell
Who would win and how?
Im going for Burns on Points. The Rickster has too much class for the Mitch. Not saying Mitchell wouldnt have his moments but a relatively comfortable night for Burns
Who have you all got?
Regards

my arris is full of splinters on this one due to being so firmly on the fence.

Burns suits the weight better I think. Took Katsidis' shots well, used his size advantages. I think he'd take a close-ish decision. Depends how he fights. Mitchell did well in stopping Murray but I don't think Burns would've there to be hit as much.

Re: Burns v Mitchell
burns all day long for me,should be able to keep it at range and looks better at the weight, mitchell should drop down a weight i think.
suppose it all depends wether or not mitchell manages to get any blades in the ring

Never rated Mitchell all that highly to be honest, don't exactly rate Burns as anything special either but feel he's got enough in his arsenal to deal with Mitchell. Think it'd be a relatively close but comfortable UD, something like 115-112 in Burns favour.

Have gone for Burns, unlike Coxy I do actually rate Mitchell but does seem clear he is not the most focussed or disciplined of guys and whilst Burns is not particularly special he turns up fit, focussed and in shape and for me think he would just make things too uncomfortable for Mitchell.

Re: Burns v Mitchell
I think Burns has the physical attributes to make a hard night for a lot of fighters at lightweight.
I think hes going to do alright at this weight to be fair.
His jab on Saturday for me was amazing, it was what won him the fight in my opinion, he set up some great shots and Katsidas couldn't find an answer for it.
I also this the weight will improve his punch resistance as he looked a lot stronger in the legs.
The Roman Martinez fight was a very dodgy looking time for Burns becuase he looked very unsteady everytime he got caught.
But things look good for the Coatsbridge man especially when he is the same height as most welters. He has a good advantage over the lightweights in this country, is very well disiplined under Nelson and has a good variety of shots he can use which for me, will see him do alright.
Mitchell on the other hand done well to beat Murray last time out but his outside habits of getting into trouble and creating unnecessary issues will be his downfall. Burns is very professional, I dont think Mitchell is and looking at all this, I feel Burns wins 9 times out of 10.

Re: Burns v Mitchell
im surprised how many people are going for burns to be honest. mitchells dedication seems to be a problem, but on his night i think he would be too clever for burns. burns has 2 great wins against sluggers, where he has proven his desire and courage, but will be interesting to see him fight a top fighter with different attributes, personally i cant see him outboxing mitchell.

Re: Burns v Mitchell
18 months ago i would have said it was a mismatch and Mitchell wins easily, but since winning his world title Burns is a different fighter and should have too much for Mitchell while coasting to a fairly comfortable decision. I would say Burn's is the most improved fighter anywhere in boxing over the last few years.

Mitchell calls out Burns...who wins
Mitchell yesterday called out ricky burns (via twitter) and says that the match needs to happen asap.
For me Burns wins this hands down, if kats cant stop ricky, I cant see mitchell doing so.
And I cant see him out boxing the taller, bigger Burns,
So how would he win?
Could be interesting and competetive but I think Burns is just too classy for mitchell and is a level ahead.

Re: Burns v Mitchell
Think he outboxes mitchell all night long with some ease to be honest.
ALso think his left hook to the body is a devastating punch, stopped katsidis dead in his tracks at times. Dont think mitchell would be able to stand up to too many of them.
