The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing picture of newly retired Gareth 'Alfie' Thomas.
Also a special picture of Thomas Domingo and wishing him all the best on a speedy recovery.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Jeebus, Glas, how on earth did you discover his secret, that he likes to be known as Deborah (posh spelling, note) at the weekends? He'll be livid, so she willGlas a du wrote:Right. KIA and gang are in the stand as they have sorted their own tickets via her brother. Penfro and his gang want stand tickets. I have two stand tickets and we are waiting for Penfro to decide whether he and Mrs P or his outlaws want then rather than have to dress Hughie up as 'Debra'. The rest of us are terrace bound. It's a blast. Good atmosphere, good view of the big screen and you feel part of the action. Really excited!

On a separate note, train tickets now booked for two key legs:
* Sat: Tiverton Parkway to Llanelli (arrives 14.07, plenty of time for a loosener or three), x6;
* Sun: Tiverton Parkway to Bath Spa (arrives 11.25, ditto), x10.
I've booked for those that I believe are stopping over on the previous night - seemed to make sense to secure cheapest advance fares for as many as poss at this stage - hope that's cool with everyone

Glas,Am I in that crowd on the terrace? Ticket requested via FB. Cant be missing my fav Welsh team, roysh?
Also, I have NO idea how that weekend will work out logistically for moi. Sure it will be the same for the rest of the regs.
Staying in Laandahn before the 9th Dec till New Year.
Drive up to Llanneli for game on Sat. 10th Dec. Or stay with Kia the night before. Must ask formally.
Beers and fun before and after Scarlets v Munster game.
Go to Cardiff Rock Gig afterwards with Chef and other aul Rockers...
Back to Exeter - staying at As's place on Sat night.
Up Sunday morn, beer and brekkie and onwards towards Bath for Leinster game.
Game at 12:45.
Few beers after then back down to watch Exe play Dragons.
Game at 17:45
More drink and craic afterwards in Devon.
Stay at As' s Sunday night.
Sheesh. Going to need vitamin pills. Strong ones.

Asbo, that's great organising. I shall try and make sure I get on the right train to get to Llanelli the same time as you guys.
Instead of waiting for the park and ride (they go ever half hour and we'd have to wait for 20 mins) there are plent of taxi's outside the station in Llanelli so spreading the cost between us should be fine for that. Want to at least try and get some of the barn experience before hand! If not though we can head straight to the terrace to get a good spot and go to the Barn afterwards.

And on a note on the park and ride as well. I believe they start on the hour after tha match (I think it will be 5pm) and they usually run every half hour then till either 7 or half 7 (I will double check at the ticket office on Sat), so we have the options of waiting for later ones. Depends entirely on what time we want to get back to Cardiff for.
I've also just had another thought.
Penfro - if you read this, would you rather your parents have the stand tickets I PM'd you about earlier and you and Mrs Penfro have terracing ones, or would you both rather stand ones as well? (hope that makes sense)

Certainly Sir. The terrace is an experience not to be missed, much more sociable for a big gang.Glas,Am I in that crowd on the terrace? Ticket requested via FB. Cant be missing my fav Welsh team, roysh?
Forget the barn in advance, the cues will be huge. I suggest that the North Stand bar will suit just fine as we are a big enough crowd. We can go to the barn afterwards.Instead of waiting for the park and ride (they go ever half hour and we'd have to wait for 20 mins) there are plent of taxi's outside the station in Llanelli so spreading the cost between us should be fine for that. I will have the car and will be able to take a car load (or three) over to the Station.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Thanks Chef, I didn't translate it, but my pidgin French got me through. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It's always interesting to see what outsiders think of things. I concur with a lot of the sentiments and they were part if my reasoning in adopting them my second team.
Interstingly we have a version of the legend regarding Owen Lawgoch (Owen the Red Hand) who was said to be resting in a cave in where he and a select band of his men were waiting to rise again. He was a general in the French Army and due to his threat to the English crown (he was a decendant of Llewellyn ein Lliw Olaf) he was killed by an assassin in La Rochelle. When a cave was discovered on Llandybie during Quarrying in the 1950's a number of skeletons were found. Being the 50's though not much notice was taken of them!

I must say I'm extremely jealous of you lot. That looks like being an epic weekend.
Before that though I will have my trip to Welford Road. Staying at the "home" of rugby - Rugby. You know where Webb Ellis picked up the ball and... Well never mind. I know there's a cracking Indian Restaurant and an equally cracking Irish Bar. I do hope they remember my rendition of the Green Fields of France last time .... And keep me well away from the mic. this year.

Dreamer & Mrs Penfro. Stephen Jones Groupies! I would. Great kicker and a manly/boyish fisog.
Hope he is at least on de bench for the big HC game v Munster.
Really looking forward to the PYS experience. Another essential ground in. And the regs involved. Oh yes.

Gibbo - I've just been looking at highlights from the Scarlets Heineken campaign last year, and our best tries came from when Stevo started at 10 and Priestland at 15 and they interchanged throughout the match. Will be interesting to see if Nige sticks with that tactic or gives Priestland the 10 shirt. Tough choices ahead for him!
Can't see Wellies not being involved though. I really do love that man.

Ditto. I am now in the position where I cannot make either the Saturday or Sunday leg.
My disappointment is slightly lessened by the fact that reason for missing out is that I will be at the theatre watching Niamh in a production of Oliver, and the fact that on 19th Nov she has been invited to audition for a part in Matilda in the West End.
Hopefully the next big meet up after this one will fall on a weekend when I don't already have plans although I am not holding my breath!

Just watched a doc about the revamping of the Orsay museum in Paris;been a couple of times,19th century art, absolutely astounding, but what they appear to have done to the building(originally a station) in terms of deco and lighting is WWWWAAAAAOOOOOOWWWWWWWW. Gotta get back to Paris.
