Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
First topic message reminder :
As we all know, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 was released 08/11/2011 and is billed to be the biggest game of the year. So basically i want to know what you think of it? Is it worth the £45? Is it just an expansion pack on Modern Warfare 2? Do you ever get bored being called a "fag" by a 12 year old American?
After playing it for approximately 2 hours yesterday, my opinion is that its fairly impressive. Not mindblowing yet, nothing amazing but a few nice changes ie. Survival mode is MW3's answer to Zombies and it works quite well for me, not got my teeth in to the campaign yet and only had a couple of games of Multiplayer and all seemed in order.
My only gripe might be that its a bit lazy, 2 years in production and not a whole lot has changed.
I want to hear your thoughts.........GO!
NB. Please dont let this turn in to a Schoolboy Cod v BF3 argument.

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
Got MW3 for PS3 for Crimbo and loving it.
I have one query which I was hoping one of you expert gamers might be able to help with, not being very up on these things myself.......
I have been playing online multiplayer option on free for all, and after each session it says I've got a weapon upgrade, but I don't seem to have that upgrade when I begin a new session, just the normal standard issue. Do you have to manually upgrade or is it auto? If auto, why am I not seeing any difference?
All the other onliners have custom weapons and are wiping the floor with me!!!!

For anyone struggling with a bad K/D ratio, use Assassin as a perk with a silencer. Works a treat!

I've had this since it came out. It simply isn't as good as Battlefield 3. The Spec Ops are great fun, but once you've done them all, you're left with the most arcade-like multiplayer yet and a very short campaign. The multiplayer on BF3 surpasses CoD in just about every way.

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
Anybody got any good tips for which combination you have for your class? Do you go for all out power and or precision?
What perks are best?
I've been using the kick / fire power with perks slight of hand, quick draw and marksman, still seem to be a lot slower than other players though.
Any tips? I need tio improve my ratio of 0.46!

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
I would personally say it depends on what weapon you are using as to what perks you should utilise.
Kick is a great thing on the more powerful weapons...but on the lighter ones can be a bit of a waste.
I'm currently using my old favourite of the ACR. Haven't played for a few weeks though, so couldn't tell you what perks I have set up with it.

Not bought this COD, first COD I've not bought. Bored of the whole series, bored of FPS in general to be honest.

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
The ACR is the gun I'm using, Celtic! I switch between that an the P90.
This is the first COD I've had and I'm loving the multiplayer online Team Deathmatch and Free for All, even though I'm useless at them! Although in my defence I have no experience as I haven't even played the story mode yet.
I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this one, there is a perk that slows down slightly the gameplayer when you encounter an enemy, but I don't know which, anyone know?

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
Over the last week or so, I am constantly being put in weaker teams. It's something that bothered me on MW2 but I just put it down to me being paranoid, but now it's happening too much in this. If I'm in a crap team and we get stuffed I will still be in that crap team for the next game. If I'm in a better team (which is rare these days) the next game, I will be moved into the team with the 'noobs' (hate that word). Sometimes it's so bloody blatant looking, I'm beginning to think consipiracy
I'm not really bothered by stats too much, but my win ratio has dropped from 1.11 to 0.95 in the last week and that's a direct consequence of the teams I'm being put in. I play a lot of Demolition in which you need a good team to win. If you have a team full of 'noobs' you spend your whole time avoiding getting spawn cuddled [Edit: nice autocorrect ] in a bad way which is not very enjoyable.
I'd assume it may be difficult for IW/Activision/Sledgehammer or whoever to get the teams even every time, maybe even impossible, but I justed wanted to vent! Enjoying the game otherwise though!

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
Must admit the one thing that surprised me about the team games is that you are all in the same pot, whether a "noob" (hate that word too!) or a veteran. I assume they try and make each team a mix and match of both to even it out as much as possible, but I was expecting that you would be grouped with all similar ranked levels throughout your progression. Surely two teams of the higher end ranked players would be much more of a challenge than a mix, and vice versa?
.......and those player who just sit and keep blasting the players that have just spawned do my head in. Not really fair, especially on dome. I had one team deathmatch game last night where the opposite team just sat covering the spawning locations and shot you as soon as you spawned. Don't think I took more than 3 steps each time. Worst part and a major flaw of this game I think.
Been watching some tips on youtube from Ali-A, he's awesome at the game but even he encourages covering spawning locations. It's basically cheating in my eyes.

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
I think the difficulty with your idea JPX is that your level is not always a fair measurement of your ability. For example, there are quite a few people who don't prestige and stay on the first, and then there are those that start all over again with a full 10 prestiges and 9/10 days experience of the game behind them. What level you are at is only really an indication of how long you've played the game and little else.
Probably the best thing to do is get in a clan and then you know you have the backing of your team, but that of course brings other problems.

In all serious though, Im not online with X-Box, will be in a few weeks so looking forward to playing the multiplayer.
At the moment Im still addicted to survival mode. (Although I cant get past level 26 on underground as the delta riot shield squad get killed instantly)

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
Good point liverbnz, didn't think about it like that. I'm a perfect example I suppose, 1st COD game, not very good at it (never heard of prestige!) but am level 58. No doubt people will see 58 against my name when the game starts and think I'm decent, but end up very dissapointed as I prop up the leaderboard yet again!
The spawning thing is a big issue though, something I think could do with a fix from the developers.

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
It is definitely an issue in MW3 as sometimes you would spawn right in the middle of enemies. I don't play tdm in mw3, but I always thought it was the a game mode that wouldn't be susceptible to spawn raping as much, although as you say Dome is a very small map and spawn points could be covered by a cute enough team I suppose.

Domination is the worst for spawn trapping. Just capture 2 points then cover the spawning points around the third, though this doesn't work on all maps.

In Demolition there are only a few spawning points for each team as they can only go either side of the map, so it is particularly easy to spawn trap. Not a lot can be done about it. Most people seem to prefer getting their own personal stats up rather than winning a game.

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
Does anyone else find it a bit weird that the guns you unlock as you progress don't seem to be all that much better than the first unlocked bunch?
After playing for a while now I have come to the decision that the SCAR-L, PM5 and PPM901 are the best guns in the game. Though I must admit the top sniper rifle (can't remember the name) is ace.

Re: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3 - Your Views?
I find the ACR and the MK14 (I think that's what it's called, one shot manual assualt rifle) are the best AR. The MK14 takes a bit of getting use to though. The M16 is probably the worst AR. In the original MW, if you paired it with Stopping Power it was the best weapon in the game. The AK is also very good.
The best SMGs are definitely the early unlocked ones as you say, the PPM901 and the UMP for me.

I haven't unlocked the AK yet but not far off so will give that a try, I've also seen people using the P7 which looks good. For now I'm sticking with the SCAR-L, good all rounder and pretty meaty

You should give the ACR a whirl JPX. Similar to the Scar but it has a bigger mag and less recoil.

Yeah I've used the ACR a bit, I dunno it might just be me but I don't find it as effective as the Scar. Mind you I don't have any add-ons on it so maybe should persevere with it.

I take it all back! The MP7 is head and shoulders above the other guns, for close combat anyway. Managed to increase my K/D ratio from 0.41 to 0.69 just over the weekend.
Anyone else addicted to this game? I started playing it at 8 last night and before I knew it, it was 3 in the morning!! Suffering in the office today!

Bonjourno!
Is anybody part of the Call of Duty Elite package?
Playing those competitions online for the virtual badges etc is really manic fun. Plus all of the clan options make this a great team event.
My question to you guys is have 606v2 set up their own clan? Or created their own group?
It could be good advertising for the site if run correctly by the right person.
Any thoughts on such an idea?
BTW just started using the MP7 weapon. Its quite a good gun with the rapid fire attachment!

Add each other as friends on the psn and then agree times to play. My psn name is liverbnz - funnily enough. I play mostly at weekends and the odd night or 2 during the week. We can just use this thread for setting up games I suppose.
