Disagree. Its been much, much lower. Think Maskaev Rahman. Or Valuev-Ruiz. Or Valuev-Holyfield.
Or the fiasco where Don King paid for Chagaev to have his title stolen from him.
By contrast - Mormeck - a 2belt crusier champ vs Wlad an athletic, articulate, intelligent champion is an awesome matchup.

I think Mormeck's best days are behind him though.

This the same cruiser that put Haye on his backside, Wlad couldn't do that.
Forgive me, I forgot Haye was trying to win the Mormeck fight,

Nothing Irish about the way he fights. Wouldn't need to check his passport to know he wasn't Irish.

Well...it is the best fight available. Because we have one of the only times in heavyweight history where the challengers at the top level don't seem to want to fight the champion. Its people at the level below - at Fury's level - who keep calling out the champs - rather than the top level fighters. Povetkin doesn't want it. Dimitrenko has gone missing. Boytsov is recovering from injury. Helenius doesn't want it. Arreola wants another 6 months before he gets another pasting. Chambers and Thompson have both been battered before - and will be promtly and swiftly battered again.

Pretty poor state of affairs. Just a bunch of vultures waiting for the K brothers to retire or grow old.
Povetkin annoys me the most. He is over 30, a 25 (or so) unbeaten professional record and now claims to be a belt holder. But the k brothers are having to chase after the Chisoras and Mormecks of this world to get an opponent.

Sadly, this is a division that let an olympic champ fight for the title on his debut... so, this isn't as low as the HW division has got...but isn't a particularly proud moment.

Pathetic fight, but nothing else out there is a much more appealing. It could sink lower if that useless lump Fury gets a title shot though. I hope Haye comes back sooner rather than later because like him or not at least he brought a bit of interest into the division

Re: Vlad vs Mormeck - Can Heavy Boxing sink any lower????
This thread got me thinking.
If you think this match up is bad, how much worse would the Klit v Chisora bout have been?
Bearing in mind Fury beat Del boy. And Fury nearly gets sparked by everyone he steps into the ring with.
Surely this guy is more of a live opponent than Chisora would have been?

Re: Vlad vs Mormeck - Can Heavy Boxing sink any lower????
I would put my house on a focused well conditioned Chisora getting rid of Fury within 4 rounds, his attitude and conditioning for their fight was rotten though and he got what he deserved. I dont think Chisora would beat Wlad no matter what shape he's in, but i think he would put up a better show than Mormeck will.

I think he was vastly over weight for Fury..I'd pick him too..
Should he apply himself in training..
