Toulouse v Gloucester
Didn't see another article on this, I don't usually create them so bear with me.
Teams:
Toulouse
15 Clément Poitrenaud, 14 Timoci Matanavou, 13 Yann David, 12 Florian Fritz, 11 Yves Donguy, 10 Luke McAlister, 9 Luke Burgess, 8 Shaun Sowerby, 7 Sylvain Nicolas, 6 Yannick Nyanga, 5 Romain Millo-Chluski, 4 Yoann Maestri, 3 Census Johnston, 2 Gary Botha, 1 Jean-Baptiste Poux.
Replacements: 16 William Servat, 17 Yohan Montes, 18 Johnson Falefa, 19 Grégory Lamboley, 20 Nicolas Vergallo, 21 Yannick Jauzion, 22 Lionel Beauxis, 23 Gillian Galan.
Gloucester
15 Olly Morgan, 14 Charlie Sharples, 13 Henry Trinder, 12 Mike Tindall, 11 Tom Voyce, 10 Freddie Burns, 9 Rory Lawson, 8 Alasdair Strokosch, 7 Akapusi Qera, 6 Peter Buxton, 5 Jim Hamilton, 4 Will James, 3 Rupert Harden, 2 Darren Dawiduik, 1 Nick Wood.
Replacements: 16 Scott Lawson, 17 Dan Murphy, 18 Dario Chistolini, 19 Tom Savage, 20 Luke Narraway, 21 Dave Lewis, 22 Tim Taylor, 23 Jonny May.
Not many giving Glos a chance, but think it might suit them! Who knows after a weekend of rugby like this one? Come on the Glaws!

Servat, Jauzion and Beauxis on the bench, ridiculous depth.
Difficult to see Gloucester getting a look in here.

Toulouse have a lot of players missing, gloucester are not a side to be under-estimated. this gloucester back line has some serious pace if they get enough ball they could cause problems.

Nice start from Jonny May, trust Tindall to fluff it up

I note that the Toulouse mascots are sponsored by McDonalds.

Sharples isn't doing his England chances any harm. Good all round display here (as I type that he produces an awful pass......).

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
Luke McAllister is having an absolute shocker.
Kicking out of hand disastrous, two touch finders short, ridiculous attempt at a crossfield or territorial kick (couldnt tell which) and missing his shots at goal as well.

Yes, it's been awful all weekend. None of their studio equipment has worked either.
Red button service was down yesterday and caused me to miss the Edinburgh game. Murdoch should be deported.
No idea how Toulouse didn't score there. Nyanga is having a stormer ball in hand. Why on earth hasn't he played more for France??

Butchered..looks like Clancy is helping Gloucester out in the scrums...apparently not contesting is the new thing.

Agreed - scrum reffing has been poor all weekend. Same in the Saints game yesterday and also Bath were unfortunate on a couple of occasions today.

Toulouse dominating now, but if they keep messing up then I remain hopeful.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
A losing bonus would be a good result here for Glaws, don't lose sight of that. I think territory is key now, Glaws need to get themselves into the Toulouse 22. Plenty time left, and with Trinder and Sharples you have plenty scoring firepower.

He has always been fantastic with ball in hand. Levriement was in charge, that is the only explanation as to why was dropped.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
surely a massive forward pass there, how did the ref and AR (both of whom were just there) miss that?

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
Came back off a Gloucester hand not a forward pass, very similar to the Northampton one yesterday.
Have to say I'm gutted for Gloucester they could of won this against all the odds.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
Gloucester choose to settle for the losing BP, disapointing, and one of the things I dislike about BPs for defeat. Have seen the last Toulouse try again, and it does come off a Gloucester hand, but I still think it came forward off the Toulouse player first. French commentators seem to think so too...

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
The disallowed try earlier was dubious I think Nyanga pass back and while Pointrenaud juggles the ball it a harsh call.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
Gloucester very unlucky today, thought that last try by Patrinoue was forward, but looking at the replay it was knocked forward by a gloucester player.
Trinder, Sharples, looked very good today a fantastic try by Trinder.
Some cracking games this weekend.
Looking forward to next weekend.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
Yeah, good game. Glaws can take a lot out of that game.
Trinder looked sharp and took his try well. Sharples also impressed and the forwards, especially in the first half, were immense. Good handling by Tinds for both tries too!
Not many sides got a losing bonus point at Toulouse and it could have been more.

All of the Glaws backs were very impressive, tindall made a few bad mistakes but overall I thought he led an otherwise youthful backline well.
On the winning toulouse try, I was sitting in line with the pass and I thought it was level at best but haven't had the benefit of the replay.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
All I wanted was for Glaws to come out and play rugby. I knew they would be up against it for large periods, but if they could get a cheeky bonus point loss and the likes of Trinder/Sharples/Burns/May could back up my constant praise and show what they can do, I'd be happy. I'm happy.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
yes very impressed by gloucester, jonny may and sharples in particular. Trinder took his try well, tindall played well and the forwards fought all the way.
Toulouse will still be favourites to win the group but one thing today showed is that the trip to kingsholm will be a challenge.
Fascinating group this one.

What you have to remember though is that toulouse rested a lot of players, they still have medard, Servat(to start), Dusatoir, Picamoles, Bouilhou, Albacete, Clerc and a few more I'm forgetting to come back after the world cup.

Re: Toulouse v Gloucester
Coming late to this, but I'm hugely proud of that Glaws effort. We came very close to beating the best team in Europe with a very young side - this experience will bear them in really good sted for the future. I am willing to bet that no other side will pick up a point there this year.
I completely agree with Burns kicking the ball out at the end. There was no way we were going to run the length of the field at that point and his decision showed great game management - although I can understand the neutral would not be too happy with it.
Finally, when will the England selectors realise that there isn't an English loosehead prop anywhere near the standard of Nick Wood??

Amazingly good result for Glucester given their away record. Really impressed with Trinder, May and Burns. All are maturing rapidly, and it'll be interesting to see if the England coaches can find a way to pair Tuilagi and Trinder in the centres.
