Northampton v Scarlets
First topic message reminder :
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/15725328.stm
Northampton put their seven-and-a-half year unbeaten Heineken Cup record on the line against Scarlets on Friday.
The Llanelli region were the last team to beat Saints at Franklin's Gardens when fly-half Stephen Jones kicked eight points in an 18-9 win in 2004.
The Scarlets have only won once away in their last eight European games and but Heineken Cup runners-up Northampton lost their opener this term at Munster.
Rhys Priestland could make his first Scarlets start this season.
The versatile back suffered a shoulder injury in Wales' World Cup quarter-final victory over Ireland and came on as a replacement for Stephen Jones in the Scarlets' opening European victory against Castres.
Northampton beat Llanelli at the Madejski Stadium in the 2000 Heineken Cup semi-final en route to winning the tournament.
----------------------------------------------------------
Should be a good game but unfortunately I can't see the Scarlets getting much out of it, hopefully a LBP. Still we can dream

This 20 point win for Northampton hasn't begun with the best of starts, has it? For those saying Scarlets have been lucky, Saints were extremely lucky in the pool stage last year so you can't have it every year.
With regards to an earlier comment on Lawes I was not looking to stir Poopie up, I just think he's a wannabe flanker and that there's some better 2nd rows up and down England.

Scarlets one try away from a bonus point. I expect a different Saints team to come out in this second half. It's quite strange to see them with their heads down. Scarlets scored early on then got a lucky 2nd try; from then on they've dismantled Northampton, it looks like they have done a fair bit of homework.

Valjester, any chance you could message me a stream as well. Sorry to be a pain in the a.
Looks like us English might be going out before the comps even got going. And i thought the HC was depressing, sigh.

Re: Northampton v Scarlets
Ref has the scrum wrong far too often.
Saints do not deserve all these penalties.
Luckily for scarlets when saints are handed so much leeway by the ref they lack the ability to make anything from it unless it is infront of the posts.
Priestland looks fantastic tonight, making a mockery of Pisi

Ashton's defence is awful, amazing to think he is such a celebrated player when you see him on the back foot.

Doing the same thing against BJ Botha last week and getting away with it far too often, and against Ulster last season.

Saints back play is awful.
They lack cohesion. They look like they lack coaching. Surprised mall under is being taunted as an England coach. Shaun Edwards rated him as his personal fav before the match. He might be eating his words after this...!

Hartley, grabbing Davies by the scruff of the neck off the ball...
Saints have to be the dirtiest side in the HEC.
Thank god all scarlets have to do is rely on saints Teflon gloves for possession...

Ashton is a fantastic finisher and is very fast over 30 meters but he can't defend, i don't anybody has ever claimed he is good in defence to be fair.

Because scarlets look the better side.
On the scrums where saints have got a shove they were binding illegally, or boring in.. un spotted by the ref and they pop up every single scrum.
Considering the amount of caps and that the saints were finalist last year they are giving a very very poor account of themselves.
They look a lot better in the premiership than they do in the HEC.
Mujati finally penalised for boring in

No when they are made to bind correctly and scrummage straight, they lose their edge.

Well that's Mallinder out of the 'top job' then. Good work by Scarlets, another abject English performance. Pretty depressing.
