Northampton v Scarlets
First topic message reminder :
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/15725328.stm
Northampton put their seven-and-a-half year unbeaten Heineken Cup record on the line against Scarlets on Friday.
The Llanelli region were the last team to beat Saints at Franklin's Gardens when fly-half Stephen Jones kicked eight points in an 18-9 win in 2004.
The Scarlets have only won once away in their last eight European games and but Heineken Cup runners-up Northampton lost their opener this term at Munster.
Rhys Priestland could make his first Scarlets start this season.
The versatile back suffered a shoulder injury in Wales' World Cup quarter-final victory over Ireland and came on as a replacement for Stephen Jones in the Scarlets' opening European victory against Castres.
Northampton beat Llanelli at the Madejski Stadium in the 2000 Heineken Cup semi-final en route to winning the tournament.
----------------------------------------------------------
Should be a good game but unfortunately I can't see the Scarlets getting much out of it, hopefully a LBP. Still we can dream

It's a good scarlets performance, but a scrappy game... The saints have really let their very loyal and passionate fans down...

Do the Saints actually know how to play Rugby or do they think that every time there is a scrum they will play for a penalty....

I said this last season too, but imagine if the Scarlets had 2 world class props. They'd be immense.

Barnes says that scarlets need to get their losing bonus point then go for the win...!
Stuart mate saints are 19 points behind with 12 minutes left...! Scarlets already have a bonus point forthe four tries they have scored...

Rhys Thomas has been superb, the ref has no idea what is happening in the scrum. Thomas should be man of the match, after the way he nullified tongahuia

This just proves what everyone out side England said about the Saints having a very easy path to the final last year and if the scrum is reffed properly its very average.

Nasty pull on norths leg by dirty little bugger number 2 Chris Ashton.
Looks like he pulled norths hamstring
Didn't look accidental either...!

Well done Scarlets
That could well be good night northampton...
To be honest and I hope the saints fans agree that saints really let their fans and themselves down very very badly tonight.
They didn't play much rugby at all. Scarlets did very little to win, wouldn't even say it was a great scarlets performance, they made mistakes, dropped balls missed passes and had the ref against them at almost every scrum, whether they were right or wrong...!
Let's hope Ashton hasn't done serious damage to George norths leg...
I wouldn't be surprised if their aren't a w citings for saints players after this, they played a very scrappy and dirty game, if I were an England fan my vote for mall under would have just got cancelled..

North injured
But, brilliant win by the Scarlets - completely upset the odds
We could well see several welsh regions reach the HC 1/4s this year.
7/7 in Europe.

To be honest I thought the Scarlets were, at best, mediocre at this level - but they just gave out a lesson in rugby, despite the best efforts of the ref to ensure otherwise, at one of the 'fortresses' of English rugby.
Bravo.
And Ashton should be cited. For being a complete, and overrated, twaat.

I think Ashton could well be cited, very dirty off the ball incident on George North, hope it's not too serious.

I cant believe that Edinburgh scoreline, id counted them out when I saw the 1/2time score.
LI and Racing are pretty much out of that pool. But Edinburgh will worry the Blues in their back to back in December - We should know who wins that pool by Christmas
Scarlets vs Munster will be epic.

I thought the Scarlets front 5 were outstanding, considering where they were this time last year they were brilliant, I don't care if people think we're 'mediocre' to be honest.

Cyril got his predictions wrong again. 3 Regions have won their games this weekend with the final fixture to come tomorrow against a team considered to be one of the weakest of the competition.

Still too early to say. It's brilliant for Welsh rugby so far but there's still a lot of rugby to be played in the group stages.

Saints lucky to get that first try for which there was no conclusive evidence. Not sure how you can give it when you can't even see the ball being grounded. The exact same thing happened last year when they played Blues. Unlucky Northampton 'cos your luck has run out innit.

Good victory by Scarlets.
Held up well in defence, capitalised on mistakes ruthlessly, and came back well from the 1st half stuffing in the scrum.
Deserved winners.

I think this was great result for Scarlets, not only winning but picking up BP and denying Saints anything as well.
