TV Shows
What fishing shows do you like watching , there are some good ones on Discovery Shed
Fishing Gurus is my favourite at the minute , but used to love the old Go Fishing and Total Fishing shows

Re: TV Shows
I've watched a few of the Matt Hayes shows lately which are often decent.
Robson Green's extreme fishing was a bit of a novelty type program which I enjoyed just for the beauty of some of the places he visited and the strange fishing techniques.

Re: TV Shows
The Great Rod Race was Matt Hayes & Mick Brown trying to catch every freshwater fish in the UK in 30 days , they did another series The Greater Rod Race were they drove a camper van and started on the West side of Ireland and had to finish on the East coast of England travelling 1 mile for every 1lb of fish they caught ( no fish no travel ) they had 30 days to do it again .

Re: TV Shows
Yeah was going to say A Passion for Angling today, the two pike he catches in the winter are massive, some pretty impressive catches in the series. A lot of really good fishing filmed at dusk and dawn too. One of the guys is always using antique gear, Bob maybe, he was in an episode of The Compleat Angler. Not everyone's cup of tea but i thought they were excellent.

Re: TV Shows
As I was growing up John Wilson was still regularly on terrestrial, so he probably would be my favorite/influential tv show, apart from his laugh which still grates on me now

I don't think his laugh gets any better no matter how often you hear it.

Re: TV Shows
Robson Green is good, Passion for Angling was excellent, and I loved John Wilson and his 'clonkers'.
You've got to have an obvious passion and a willingness not to take yourself too seriously.
It must be difficult when filmed playing a fish to know what to say, especially when you have no idea how long it's going to take or what the fish might do. That's one reason why I forgive Wilson his laugh.

Re: TV Shows
I picked up the book of 'A passion for Angling' out my local charity shop for £2.50. Delighted, in great conndition for a book nearly 20 years old, somebody looked after it.

Re: TV Shows
Rex Hunt was classic, it actually made me laugh. Do they still make it?
There was a fishing show called 'Reel Wars' where two guys went up against eachother around Ireland. That was a great view and i wish they had made more.

Re: TV Shows
It had Matt Hayes and Mick Brown in it , they had to catch every species of fish in the UK in 30 days . Id like to see them do it in a different country

Re: TV Shows
The shows must be extrememly popular as they are constantly on repeat, suprising none of the big boys have returned with a new one, think John Wilsons Dream Fishing was the latest one, Paul Young brought one out that aired at the exact same time in fishing in America but it was poor and not suprisingly didn't go to dvd.

Re: TV Shows
All the shows that are on now just seem to concentrate on carp fishing which i find a bit boring .

I am mate, been enjoying it so far, not overly keen on it being a competition but it's still really good, he's done some travelling these past couple of years.

Re: TV Shows
Last nights show was a bit slow , but hopefully the series should pick up .
Seems the concept is Matt is given a different challenge each programme with only 24 hours to get to the venue and complete what ever the challenge is .
Next weeks show looked good with him catching some big perch .
