Just what England need:
"England's disappointing World Cup campaign will be subject to "the most comprehensive review ever undertaken," the Professional Game Board has said.
...
The RFU will also provide a report on the troubled campaign, compiled by director of elite rugby Rob Andrew, who has interviewed the England management team."
Man, we really do love a review, don't we?

I will watch the Six Nations, but the combination of all the RFU's problems and ineptitudes coming to light, England's performance and the constant stream of **** written by the tabloid press absolutely ruined the World Cup for me. I was jumping for joy in 2003 and I was fighting back the tears in 2007 when the clock was grinding down and we were 9 points down against South Africa. This year? Didn't care. I was laughing and joking about how poor we were. The RFU seriously need to sort their act out, because it all comes down to them. They need to get the right people in the right places so that England can perform to their maximum potential on the pitch, and the right people that will command respect and obedience off the field.
The RFU is an absolute shambles and now it's dragged England rugby down with it. Personally my vote would be for a complete clear-out at the top level.

Rapidly losing patience with Rob Andrew. When is someone going to review his position! useless.

Re: Just what England need:
I gotcha. But, can you tell me what he actually does? Not his title, which means nothing, but what is his actual function? I have asked a number of people over the last couple of years, including a few at the RFU, and I still do not know exactly what he does.cricketfan90 wrote:Rapidly losing patience with Rob Andrew. Re: Just what England need:
I never thought I'd say this but I actually feel sorry for England supporters.
No-one deserves this, and the crippling inertia seems to just go on and on. We're in November now, and nothing has happened to fix this mess other than talk of endless reviews. No one is in charge, and it seems that it is officially impossible for anyone to make a decision.
I'm all in favour of proper corporate governance and corporate democracy, but this is utterly ridiculous. Even if they did want a complete clear-out and to start from scratch, who can even make that decision? Rob Andrew seems to be the last man standing and the one slice of continuity throughout this entire mess (although apparently takes no responsibility), and it now falls to him to conduct some sort of review of the England coaches (the blind leading the blind springs to mind).
What if the review decides they should stay and a new Chairman is appointed who disagrees and wants to sack Andrew and the England coaches en masse (which in my view would be the right decision)??
We all have our views on the right personnel for England, and most on here seem to acknowledge that the problems need to be sorted from the top down, but I honestly don't know how this process gets kick-started, and I'm pretty sure yet another "comprehensive review", which will take goodness knows how long, is the right answer.
I could review England's performances over the last two years in a weekend. What on earth has Andrew being doing since the World Cup finished?? What happened to the MJ ultimatum??
I really do feel sorry for England fans.

Re: Just what England need:
FES,
You are obviously a very sensitive and caring individual. I am sure England supporters all over the world will feel the love (well, maybe).
But I think you are dead nuts on the money. England and the RFU have done this to themselves. And the results of the "review" are based upon who performs the review. Maybe this is the best thing for the RFU in the long run. Gut it from the top level perspective and start almost new.
The only hesitation is I still feel the RFU works fairly well with the grass roots and I would not want that made worse.
