Everybody Loves Raymond
This TV show, been going for years and now in so many countries. One of the most successful TV shows ever.
Am I the only one that thinks it is utter crap?

*cough cough* Strictly pretenders claim they haven't seen a show yet love to talk about it.
Don't be ashamed Rowley, if you like it then that's fine.

To be honest I'm not 100% sure I've seen it, but think I hate it.

Huw given how frequently and openly I have expressed my love for Strictly do you genuinely believe I would feel embarrased about expressing my love for a middling american sit com. Don't watch many sit coms, apart from the American Office and Curb, both of which I love.

Re: Everybody Loves Raymond
It isn't one of my favourite shows, and certainly not sitcoms, but it is harmless in it's own way.
I was exposed to it frequently over the last 5 or so years, having parents that liked it, and I'm not ashamed to admit it has made me laugh on occasion, but it's one of those shows that you realise it is a bit cheesy as you watch...

I've watched it. The Mrs likes it.
Visually as in the clothes they wear and the house they live in the show looks rubbish.
There are some good gags though. Raymond's brother can be funny and so can his father.

Re: Everybody Loves Raymond
It's funny, the Americans seem to love dire comedy for some reason.
For example Dharma and Greg is an awful show but highly popular.
I really never took to Frazier either which was extremely popular.
Interesting how the unfunny Scot, Craig Ferguson has managed to make a handsome living over there too.
And yes, Everybody Loves Raymond continues the "Crap comedy/Americans love it" theme as well.

It's cack. What I can't get my head round is it's "based on the comedy of Ray Romano", how does a tediously dull Italian family sitcom form the foundations/derive from a stand-up show??!

And then they go and cancel Arrested Development, which is by far their best comedy of recent years.

Are you a 30-year-old woman? Friends is dire. Everybody Loves Raymond is even worse. One thing the Americans aren't much good at is DECENT sitcoms. Best TV comedy to come from the States is South Park, Futurama and Simpsons (until recently).AlexHuckerby wrote:friends is awesome even now

hahaha.
Re: Everybody Loves Raymond
I used to watch it before college and school when I had some time to kill many years ago, it was OK but never something I'd go out of my way to watch. The Big Bang Theory is the best Sit-Com to come out of America recently.

Like Big Bang a lot (has been credited with a marked increase in science students at college and uni level too, both sides of the pond). Favourite has got to be Modern Family tho. I Sophia Vergara!!!

Christ, it's Gillian McKeith. South Park and Futurama are both infinitely better than Family Guy. No contest, really. Modern Family's OK but it's taken a lot from things like The Office and Larry Sanders.AlexHuckerby wrote:family guy is where its at. modern family is poor. futurama - which ones the funny one? simpsons has been poor for years. south park has never been funny.

Re: Everybody Loves Raymond
Yeh, ELR is pants. There is an occaissional funny moment I might raise a smile at. Frazier is quite good imo. Although I do watch these progs in the morning after a 12hr nightshift.
As for US sitcoms, I'm suprised no ones mentiones Scrubs. I think its brilliant. Kudo's to Comedy central for showing every episode at the moment.

Re: Everybody Loves Raymond
I think it's poor. Best US sitcoms are Arrested Devlopment(it's back!), Curb, The Office and things like How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half men are decent.
