First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing pictures of Rhys Priestland, Cian Healy, or the special one of Charlize Theron and Gibbo above the bar!

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ale cuppa coffee mug guinness cider RedWine Bubbly

Evening Crick. Did I tell you the Blues are pants? They are playing Aironi in the Pro12 on S4C. They have run two kickable penalties early doors and after measuring the width of the pitch (but not it's length) have just missed a drop goal.

I often find grassroots rugby can be quite exciting. Mind you a team like London Welsh or London Scottish play a decent brand of rugby without bleeding the wallet.

Czekaj had his head down in a ruck and he drove his shoulder into the back of Czekaj's neck.

Crick, the atmosphere can be awesome. France and Scotland are probably the biggest matches, but Wales and Ireland are at Twickers this season and neither match is to be sniffed at, especially given that those two will probably be bookies favourites come the spring.

As you may know, inter-national rugby doesn't tickle me, but I have just read that the director of elite English rugby says that it(English inter-national rugby) has hit rock bottom, but he is not going to resign, then bah Did he get hit by an Aironi prop, or a heron's beak?

Because this new complex will take business away from Pantglas, it will take business away from Llandeilo as they will have shops on the complex, and for the amount of damage it will do to the countryside, it's only going to be brining 70 jobs to the area. It's not worth the cost.

"Ours is very low key and low density. What's proposed is a very large urban scheme in a rural country site," said John Butcher, director of MBH3 Ltd which runs the resort."

And there's the only problem, a small low key, perhaps local outfit, that can't look further then their own beak, and recognise that pulling in thousands of wealthy Chinese folk will have an enormous(ends in -ous) impact on the region , and MAY even help the expansion of your national sport/game

'rural country site'? urban country music, but rural country???

Mention the silky skills of the substitute prop in the build up to the try you lazy bar stewards!

I've heard it all before Dreamer, it will end up being 20 houses if that. I hope the Councillors aren't gullible enough ti fall for the Hotel bit. They knocked down the Old Police Station in Amnanford to build a "5* Hotel" in the middle of Amnanford ffs! There are no other Hotels in Ammanford! Lo and behold the application is granted, then amended and amended again. Now a block of flats is planned but the developer O'Driscoll Property Developments have gone bust.

yeah I remember all the fuss over that Glas.

Tis just laughable that they are on about a relaxing rural retreat, then say there will be 80 holiday cottages and a 100 bed hotel!! That's bigger then loads of villages in the area. Ludicrous.

I'm not putting this at all well, I can't even begin to put into words how bad it would be for the area surrounding Llandeilo. I think the negatives it would bring would far, FAR outweigh the few positives. It's just far too big a scheme to be proposing.

Llandeilo and the surrounding area is built up of very small communities, in really rural locations, right on the edge of a national park. It is actually, stunning. Really well and truly beautiful. Llandeilo as a town has made a name for itself as a town full of small, independent traders. It's that charm that already brings lots of people to the area already.

Proposing such a big build, in such an undamaged part of the countryside, is to me just absolutely horrid, especially when it's so close to an area of outstanding natural beauty. And especially when something that large isn't needed, will not bring many jobs to the area, and will adversely affect local businesses. I think it would be a terrible idea. I really would.

Just...just no.

Fully appreciste not everyone will see it that way, but ych, I would absolutely hate it.

yes but 80?! that's a crazy large amount. Why on such a big scale?? And they're setting up shops on the complex, direct competition to shops in towns like Llandeilo, hardly see how that's going to benefit them?

I might be initially overreacting as I've not long read the article, but gut reaction, is a down right no, and against it.

I can appreciate your reaction, dreamer;but it means 70 more jobs, which will mean a boost to local economy:ok busloads of tourists, many of which will have the wherewithall to venture out by themselves=local tourist guides, taxis, horses, sheep etc, sell them what they've been trying to sell the occident, and it's all money in the bank for local schools, hospitals, pubs, shops, sport whatever.A great idea!!

Well at least they won't come bothering me here Whistle
