The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing pictures of Rhys Priestland, Cian Healy, or the special one of Charlize Theron and Gibbo above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Swansea's quite nice actually, Stag. My sister studied there and moved there to live a couple of months ago. She lives right by the Liberty Stadium and she told me she can hear the roar of the crowd (when the Swans are playing).

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Is there anything Ospreys related to visit there? Is there anything worth doing there?
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
erm, maybe the Liberty Stadium to a tour Stag?
Not much to do in Swansea really, but the redeveloped area at the seafront is nice, not been to Swansea properly for years though. Not sure really what there is to do there.

Swansea's Winter Wonderland. This event held next to the National Waterfront Museum includes stalls selling traditional Christmas goods, a big wheel offering views over Swansea Bay and an ice rink. 18 Nov 2011 - 8 Jan 2012
Perfect!!!
Dreamer yea I'll be seeing Cardiff, Llanelli, Swansea, Exeter, Devon, Bath, Chester and Liverpool - quite the trek.

I don't suppose you'll have the time, but the Gower peninsula (just beyond Swansea) is a beautiful part of the world.

I was only kidding about Swansea, Penfro. I went down to visit my sister a month or so ago and it's a decent enough place. Shame about the locals, but you can't have it all.

Thing with Swansea is, the further west you go the better it gets. Indeed, it could be said it is a microcosm of Wales .............

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Afternoon all. Fair play to Wales in the 7s. We're taking a couple of Welsh fans to Dubai this year. I'm sure we'll get some stick
Wales 7s squad: - Tom Habberfield 1, Harry Robinson 2, Mathew Patchel 3 ,Alex Walker 4, Tom Prydie 5, Owen B Williams 6, Ifan Evans 7, Rhys Shellard 8, Will Price 9, Richie Pugh 10, Richard Smith 11, Owen P Williams 12 .
I’m not surprised they beat England with Ifan Evans (a real 7s specialist) and Tom Prydie on the wings. Just chuck ‘em the ball and watch them run. Evans is a wee tank with a turbo-charged engine.

It'll be an experience no doubt Pete. I always seem to go off on tangents in Wales. In 2008 I managed to thumb a lift from Holyhead down to Cardiff.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ifan Evans is a new name to me, Hound - presumably he's on one of the regions' books?

He plays for Llandovery lucky –but is also attached to The Scarlets; probably only just made it to Regional rugby this season though. He’s one of those that get’s you off your seat when he gets the ball in space in 7s

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Which meet up? If in Wales let Penfro be your guide, but try anything from Tomos Watkins or Purple Moose. In the west country Asbo will see you right - anything from O'Hanlons, Otter, and Cotleigh would be 3 recommendations. Watch yourself with 'the stick' in The Culm Valley Inn. Evil boogers in there I tell you

Its landlord Wonkie's 10th anniversary in the CVI, so I imagine the stick will be extra long! One of each I would recommend?

Hound , we've also got to find a pub for our time in Bath (before the game and after the game, plus possibly during the game) - I found this site: Bath pubs - any that you would recommend in particular? Cheers

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Right, I had to log into the wifi at the pub because T-Mobile have a 'lock' on any site related to alcohol
Avoid the Pulteney Arms - good pub, but it is heaving before Bath matches. It will show any rugby on TV though. Ditto The Old Green Tree - they don't like 'loud' people
Good bets near the ground are The Bell Inn, Walcot St. The Pig & Fiddle, The Hogshead and an absolute gem The Star (but this is also a quiet pub). It features a bench known as 'Death Row' because that is where the old codgers sit.
Best to check beerintheevening 'cos it's a while since I've been to Bath. Happy hunting

Hope they'll have Yellowhammer on in the CVI,nectar of the dogs.
When Gibbo and I were in Bath, we didn't even go to a pub ,but had lunch in a smartish place that sold good beer.
