Off topic (but I don't care)
This has literally made me feel sick.
I'm feeling pretty disillusioned with the human race, right now. Restore my faith, peeps:

I know a guy who did that to a misbehaving driver.

Are you kidding me, it is only a dog. Not that I condone this sort of thing but compared to what we do to each other I find it hard to be fully outraged by this.

Oh dear - I fear for this thread already
I'm no massive animal lover (no Muffin the Mule jokes please) but if indeed this is proven to be true (rather than a horrible accident where the driver wasn't aware the dog was tied to the car) then it is pretty horrible
Now if it had been a cat.....

It is despicable Davie, I'm no animal lover either, but while I'm not particularly outraged, I'm not actually surprised either. More surprised it was a Porsche driver and not a souped up Vauxhall Nova or something similar.
There was an instance (in America presumably) where this happened to a person. I can scarcely think of a worse way to go.

Brighton to shoreham is a mere 6.7 miles, so I am about 10% outraged.

I'm pretty sure Mac's comment was tongue in cheek, at least that's how I read it.
I don't think anyone (myself and Mac included) find animal cruelty tolerable.

I disagree.
He's comparing the act with what humans do to each other as if it lessens the offence. If a human does that to another human, they'll get a life sentence. I'm not even sure doing it to an animal will get you a prison sentence. Is that morally correct - no way near, in my view.
I feared some spunkmat would try and belittle the act. It's no surprise which inadequate it was.

That's a horrid story. Some people have no moral standards whatsoever. The Carrera's a terrible car.

Some of the replies to this awful story are disgusting, you should be ashamed. It says a lot about the type of person you are, I'm now glad I'm not going to the meet up as I wouldn't want to spend 5 minutes in the company of you.

Shocking. Thought the story was bad enough, but the responses sum up why I don't bother much with this forum. To joke about a thing like this makes you scum in my book.Bye

Can't argue with those sentiments at all.
I like a laugh and a joke about some pretty close to the bone things, but I can't see the funny side to this at all.

Jeez...I think a few people on here need to lighten up.
NOBODY is laughing at the story, it is horrendous. People are laughing at a humorous, very obviously tongue in cheek comment.
Those people that have said they wouldn't want to meet up based on the responses to this thread...good, I wouldn't want to spend time with you anyway.
There are way too many bad things happening in this world, sometimes having a laugh helps to ease the pressure.

Quite agree MPB, this sort of thing can be taken the wrong way with an innocent attempt at humour at a serious situation.

Oh okay D4S, I'll lighten up. Please let me know if and when I'm allowed to be offended by comments like these.
It's obvious no-one is condoning the cruelty, but as Merc says it has been made light of. There are some occasions where "tongue in cheek" comments are not warranted, if you don't know when that is then that's your problem, not mine.

I feel the same as JPX, but for different reasons - I don't want to risk burying a sand-wedge into someone's forehead.
There is nothing humorous about the subject and, even allowing for black humour, McLaren's post just wasn't funny (those people who have said it's the funniest post ever, feel free to PM me an explanation as I'm not seeing it). This thread was clearly not looking for nor requiring humour (or more precisely, attempts at humour).
As an aside, it was very good of McLaren to state that he doesn't condone the act of dragging a dog behind a car, but most civilised people would say they vehemently condemn the act not that they don't condone it and therein lies the class of the boy.

Just because you don't agree with Mac's humour it doesn't give you the moral high ground to question his class.

His humour, or lack thereof, has got nothing to do with how I view his level of class.

I actually thought Mac's comment on his outrage% was a humerous jibe at himself. It goes to show how different the written word can be viewed.
We struggle to keep some golf advice threads clean and on topic so I dont think off topic threads like these help the forum much. Best deleted IMO.

A ban would be a bit harsh. We are all entitled to our own opinion, from the responses from other posters it seems Merc and a couple of others are in the minority.
