I tend to like the bbc stuff and dislike the same sort of stuff S_R listed.
Veru much looking forward to the new series of infinite monkey cage. Will listen to the first episode on iplayer.
Does anyone else find soft toys amusing?

A very good friend of mine hit a loose horse - killed her child. Not good at all.
Deaths from striking deer or moose quite common round here. Pretty bloody sad.

There was a guy round my way who hit a loose cow, came right through the windscreen and killed him. He was a drug dealer though, so no big loss.
Shame about the cow though.

Comedy is very personal, but what people find funny does not mean that they agree with it. People can make jokes about any taboo subject, Jimmy Car live, is a comedian very very close to the bone, not what you tend to see on panel shows. But he is funny. - my opinion. I get when people say they dont like Gervais, but the Office is still such a stand alone quality show. Anyone like The Thick of It, that is superb.

Re: Off topic (but I don't care)
I think the big problem with comedians these days is they become over-exposed very quickly.
One minute they are an occasional guest on a show or stand up, next minute they've got their own show which is ALWAYS dreadful.
Although there are plenty who have never been funny like Ohmid Jallili or Jack Whitehall.

Hi Ben, hows it going. Yep, The Thick Of It was very good, bit disapointed in the film they made, all became a bit too much about the swearing (which was funny at times it has to be said)
Re Gervais I personally think the Office was overated but when he used to do his slots on the 11 O Clock show they were very funny and soo close to the bone. Plus Daisy Donovan was tremendous eye candy.

I liked The Office, but can't stand Gervais and haven't liked anything he has been in since. I like visual comedy such as Lee Evans and Laurel and Hardy and I also like play on words comedy. There is a guy on mock the week who is quite good at it. EG "Someone threw a lump of cheese at me the other day. I didn't think that it was very mature" Silly humour tickles me sometimes.

Jack Whitehall is funny, but he is very southern, as am I, though he is a lot more middle class. There is a class/area divide for comedy i think. Peter Kay - not very funny.

Ben, Similar to Russel Brand I see Jack Whitehall as a kids/youth comedian, or the demographic who listen to Radio 1 and watch E4.
Has it's place, but not funny. The funniest thing about Brand was when he was miles out of his depth on Have I Got News For You.
Wretched stuff.

The Thick of it had some superb swearing, just started re watching the first season ( how american is that term?) Capaldi just steals the whole show. Modern Family - an American show, is also very good, as was Arrested Development.

Sorry is it me or am I the only one who is struggling to see the link between jokes about an actual instance of animal cruelty and stand up comedians who do some controversial material?
Justify it all you like but if you post distasteful comments like what has been posted on here then I have a right to object to it.

One of the best thing Brand did was when he sent the Daily Heil into meltdown, with his made up song about Manuels grandaughter, but again i do find him funny. Though i am just past the youth stage of my life, but again he is a very southern comedian.

Re: Off topic (but I don't care)
I think the link is that jokes have been made about many many horrendous instances in life. I have heard jokes about the holocaust, paedophilia, islam, death, murder. Some make me laugh some do not. But if people can joke about these, then an act of animal cruelty is not out of range.

Re: Off topic (but I don't care)
I don't think it's a southern thing, I just think that Whitehall and Brand are a pair of C words.
There are southern comedians who are funny, just as there are funny northern comedians.
Must be something about being called Brand, because that Jo Brand is rubbish too.

Just had a brilliant comedy moment in the office, wonder how many people on here will find it as funny as I just did.
There is a visitor in the office, his phone just rang and the ringtone was the funeral march. 'that's the wife' he proudly announces

Yeah good mate, enjoying life outside London. The scripts of the Thick of It are actually a really good read, they published a book of them and its very funny to dip in and out of.
Have seen a couple of Modern Familys and liked them.

Absolutely brilliant

Re: Off topic (but I don't care)
I went into a shop today and asked "Can someone sell me a kettle?" the assistant replied "Kenwood" I said "Where is he then?"
I read a book today "The history of glue"...I couldn't put it down.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but do you work in the Tippex factory?
"I've got a job in a bowling alley" "Tenpin?" "No permanent"
I told my Mum that I had just bought the local theatre. She replied "Your having me on" I said " Well I'll give you an audition, but i'm not promising anything"
I met this bloke with a didgeridoo and he was playing dancing queen on it. I thought this is aboriginal.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but love this type of humour.

He's brilliant. Funny but clever too.
You missed "I went into the jewellers to buy a watch. The assistant said 'analogue?' and I said 'no, just a watch'"
I would have thought that would be right up a teenagers street. Short, easy to remember!

I never really was a dog lover before, but am very fond of it because they are great companions.
I think we all laugh sometimes at distasteful things. Just thought the whole mocking of it was a out of order and not really necessary. The comment made by Mac was so not laugh out loud funny to me. Humour is a personal thing I guess.
sorry it touched a nerve faldo, but it was the reply i found funny not the act of dragging a dog 6.7 miles.

Saw Lee Evans at the O2 and came out in agony with my ribs hurting from so much belly laughing. The other guy who was funny much to my surprise was Alan Carr, the Mrs likes him so got her tickets to his Specsy Beast tour, didn't really fancy it myslef but came away in tears I laughed so much

No I don't think so liegerwoods. I'd get a clip from youtube but can't access it from work.
Lee Evans. Another whose humour I don't get. Same as Al Murray and Reeves and Mortimer. Alan Carr is great though.
As they say, if we were all the same the world would be one boring place!

Lee Evans is my favourite comedian of all time. I've seen all of his live shows (on tv, not actually there)
I think when it comes to Lee, you can familiarise yourself with what he is saying and have experienced the things he talks about.
One of my favourite pieces about tractor drivers: (Warning, there is a bit of swearing on this clip)

To be honest I find it all just a bit obvious and predictable. Then you get the panel shows full of the same stand ups who seem to think that all they have to do is say anything to get a laugh and usually the audiances are so full of sycophantic sheep thats what happens whther its funny or not.

I definitely know what you mean about panel shows, very contrived and often just a regurgitation of their stand up routines.
However you occasionally get it the other way when they die on their backsides like the hateful Russel Brand did once.
Out of interest Digs, what do you find funny?, you seem a very difficult man to please.

To be fair I am probably am a miserable old so and so Super.
As mentioned earlier I like The think Of It, used to love Yes minister, bit of Fawlty Towers, Black Adder. Recent stuff Ive liked is The Rev and really liked the first couple of series of Lead Balloon.
But in all honesty Id rather watch a documentary or a drama on TV than comedy.
