How did you decide on your 606v2 name?
Just for a bit of fun...
I did this artical back on the old 606 to try and find out how posters came by their various names. Quite a laugh at the time as some of the explainations were hilarious. I think it is time to remind everyone again.
Just to get the ball rolling: The two great loves in my life are Heavy Metal music & Leicester Tigers (don't tell the wife & kids!!!) so it was a case of putting the two together.
So Metal Tiger was born.
How did you get your monicker?

The Declaration of Arbroath, 1320:

Rugger = Rugby
Radge = Radge is a colloqial term in Scotland for someone who is a wee bit mental. I picked up that title at my local rugby club after tackling someone so hard I dislocated my shoulder. The other guy's spleen was bruised or so I was told. The name has stuck and even now when I meet my team mates out and about I still get termed "a Radge" despite being I would say a nice chap.

I have a penchant for drinking copious amounts of vodka and after dressing up as a crazed vicar a number of times became known as Priest in certain circles - so just like Metal Tiger I combined the two to create Smirnoffpriest.

My nickname at school, which combined my first name with a certain fizzy drink that I used to walk to a particular newsagents (20 minute walk away...) to buy.
It also spawned numerous songs on my sevens team, mostly sung to 'Que sera sera':
"Just give it to IanBru,
He'll drop the ball for you,
He'll chat up your girlfriend too,
That w@nker IanBru"

Ahh the name was chosen before I developed a more discerning taste for higher class vodka. - Zubrowka vodka doesn't quite work either...
Though one of my colleagues does call me Stoli...
But the way I look at it is that it's good to have a hobby ;p

Well seeing as I was highly original and used my name on 606 I merely added the 'formerly known as' bit for 606v2.
Great to listen to, great to attempt to play (attempt being the key word in reference to my musical skills).
Smirnoff I do like Joe Bonamassa (incredible guitarist) but his music doesn't have that same ability to instantly start your foot tapping does it.

MMC is an acronym for MunsterMadCorkman which was my name on the original 606. I think the MunsterMadCorkman bit is self-explanatory really.

Yeah, it’s just a nickname. I like these biscuits called Mikado but I used to pronounce it differently Mick-ah-doh instead of Mick-ah-do. Since my name is Mick it all just stuck.

Re: How did you decide on your 606v2 name?
Back when I got my 1st proper* (post university) job some guys in the office ran tipping competitions around the NPC and Super12. As a proud Marlburian I picked Red Devil (the nickname of the Marlborough provincial team**) as my competition name. Later that year I tried to use the name in an online soccer world cup tipping comp and it was already being used, so I added the "Kiwi" to the front. When I moved over to the UK and joined 606 (back on the old yellow colour scheme in 2006) I kept using the name.
*Yes all right, it was Civil Service so not really proper
** Now sadly relegated to sub-union status since the merger with Nelson Bays to form Tasman in the INL Cup, so the Red Devils are lucky to play 4 games a year (3 matches in the pre-INL Cup season Seddon Shield vs Nelson Bays, Buller and West Coast plus the odd friendly)

kia kaha means be strong. It´s what my hometown Christchurch is doing in terms of the aftermath of the earthquakes and countless aftershocks but I meant it more for my country - Aotearoa or New Zealand - in the wake of 24 years without World Cup success and all those people who thought it reasonable to say NZ hadn´t done anything special as it hadn´t won a RWC in the professional era. Then when we do win, the ref gave it to us and you can only win a World Cup at home and so on and so on. Life can be lonely at the top but great views and fresh air. kia kaha

Quite simply a play on words. I play Loosehead, and the name sort of came to me on the spot when I signed up to v2. Bit odd seeing as I'm very mild mannered and a clean player, ignore the connotations of the name. Used to be FrontRowCentre on v1 but decided to change it to what I feel a much better name.

Re: How did you decide on your 606v2 name?
I am a fan of stand up comedy - I think it's an astonishing art in its own right and something that the UK/Ireland does better than anywhere else in the world. I know some professional stand ups and I think (particular in my real life as a terribly square corporate lawyer) it's the bravest way to earn a living. During my 10 years in London, I was a constant attendee at the Comedy Store on Oxendon Street and so was my wife.
I could have picked one of a number of the greats - Connolly, Bruce, Hicks, Prior or any of the best now - Kitson, Izzard, Moran, Rock.
But I chose George. It seemed fitting for this forum. The most polished performer ever and proof that you can spew forth the most outrageous vitriol if you're charming and intelligent enough. Clearly, I am still working on this part.
I think that most people may have seen him, but if not - have a look at this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvgN5gCuLac
Anything I contribute to the 'Random Factor...Like A Tractor' thread is a quote from Carlin.
Rory Gallacher - I was not aware of 'you', but I am now.
I would very much like my erstwhile colleagues Dorothy Mantooth and Tattie Scones to come on here and explain themselves too.
