How did you decide on your 606v2 name?
First topic message reminder :
Just for a bit of fun...
I did this artical back on the old 606 to try and find out how posters came by their various names. Quite a laugh at the time as some of the explainations were hilarious. I think it is time to remind everyone again.
Just to get the ball rolling: The two great loves in my life are Heavy Metal music & Leicester Tigers (don't tell the wife & kids!!!) so it was a case of putting the two together.
So Metal Tiger was born.
How did you get your monicker?

That blood is a good fertiliser for grass. Sounds more like a drug dealer than a teacher...

Especially the Welsh stuff?!Glas a du wrote:Smirnoffpriest wrote:I'm a Welsh speaker and am always amazed at the differences between Irish/Scottish Gaelic and Welsh. Especially when there are similar words between Welsh, Cornish and Britton.
It's also interesting that Glasgow is called that because it's taken from Welsh meaning Blue Field after a battle that took place between 2 Celtic tribes back in the times before Romans.
No, it means green field. When grass is very lush it is called glas to convey the deeper green colour. Blood is a good fertiliser for grass.

Damn right - we are a fearsome bunch down there because we know 'West is Best!' lol
Quite a lot of Celtic history is very bloody as well, probably because the Celts were known as ferious fighters and savages, especially in comparison to Rome's more civilised society.

Glas, personally born north of the Clyde, father from Lewis, mother from Iona, and if you go back far enough (a couple o'hundred years), my Murrays hailed from the Borders

I live in Wales but various parts of my (and probably most other peoples) family are from differing parts of the UK but regardless I still consider myself Welsh and British as I've never lived in England and Ireland, but my grandparent and great-grandparent were from there, so can't see a huge conection personally. (though if I was born in America I'd be considered Irish through and through)

Rugby pubs like the Pultney Arms, the Royal Oak in Widcombe and even the Boater (very busy on match day) can be decent. The all-round pubs I like are the Crystal Palace, Pig and Fiddle and Flan O'Brien. There's lots of nice little ones tucked away around the city centre though, it's great to explore them.

The Flan O'Brien
We are NOT going to the Flan O'Brien, OK?
I've got nothing against Irish pubs, IN IRELAND. And then not the chain owned, tin whistle and funny writing ones.

Oddly not - some families hedged their bets by sending sons to different sides, and then there's whole traitorous clans like the Campbells that were on the wrong sideGlas a du wrote:AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:Hmm, something like that. Never trust a Campbell. And my cousin is one of them. So many class Auckland ABs. Do you run to this theory that when Auckland rugby is strong, New Zealand rugby is strong?

As a New Zealander reading about the declaration the thing that is hard to put into context is that it was dated in 1320,that is 400 years before white man had even seen New Zealand, youre history is so complete, whereas we are just so last week.

The campbells of Cawdor? Is that not fairly close to culloden? I thought they had helped shelter some of the fleeing jocks after the battle. Could be wrong though.

Well I reckon the Ospreys were recruiting from Llanelli - there's definitely a connection with the taloned oompa loompas I see in town. Probably been breeding with some mountain men up cwmtawe
