Na is not stunning its just the norm now. One day England maybe lucky enough to take a Welsh 'Scalp'...maybe when Wales are depleted with injuries

Re: England stunned by Wales
Well one off wins do happen once in a while.
Anyway it means little, England are still in the competition. Both Fiji and New Zealand are tough sides.
Yes impossible standards because Wales haven't lost to England this year in all sports have they?

Just posted it as I didn't see any other threads about the Gold Coast 7's. Don't want this to descend into the usual childish "insult tennis"

Good win for the Welsh side there, NZ and Fiji are both very tough teams in 7's rugby, but would much rather face Fiji in the QF's!
beshocked mate, can't believe you just went to that much effort!

Rugby Dreamer I felt it had to be said.
I don't actually dislike Wales. I don't just don't like cocky little Welsh posters like Impossible Standards because he is wrong.
I wanted Wales to beat France in the world cup but I feel some Welsh on these forums have a inflated self of importance.
Congratulations on getting to the world cup semi and beating England in the 7s. Just please don't let it go to your heads please.

Beshocked - I can't believe you actually thought I was serious! I think you may have been on these forums too much...
Why just the other day I congratulated your team on their RWC anniversary. https://www.606v2.com/t18763-it-s-up-it-s-over-he-s-done-it

Ouch, not looking forward to playing the 'Blacks.
On the other hand, a free ticket to the Gold Coast? well I suppose I could manage 14 minutes.
Well done Wales, but really England haven't been as good as they were in 7's for a while now. Or tbh just a lot of other teams have become as good. Nearly every team can beat any other if the bounce of the ball is right.

I cant believe I missed it this morning - I wanted to see H.Robinson play.
Anyone know if there are highlights anywhere?
Wales 7s picking up where they left off at the end of last season.

Good work by the Sevens squad, but it is finals and trophies we want to see of these lads.

Actually it's a branch of RU, considering all the same rules apply aside from the number of players per side and Union players are regularly called up to represent their country in Sevens. The more you know

Re: England stunned by Wales
Goes to show that contracting players to the Sevens team does have it's benefits. There are 7 new faces in this team apparently and have the likes of Gareth Owen to come back, he's one of our best sevens players. Tough quarter final against Fiji then an even tougher semi against South Africa who should cruise past France.

Re: England stunned by Wales
Not really. Scrums, advantage decisions, conversion attempts, kick offs, suspensions, game time etc are all quite different.Knowsit17 wrote:SafeAsMilk wrote:7s isn't rugby union. This is in the wrong section

Oh, and it's laws, not rules.
Just because some players can play both doesn't mean there aren't major differences

It's similar in that NZ own both sports

Whether or not there are differences is irrellevant. It's still rugby union. Not really any room for debate on that

Apologies, for a brief moment I forgot the subtle differences between the terms laws and rules.
All the differences you cited come as a direct result of the lesser game time and the reduced sides. For example you can hardly have packs of 8 contesting scrums as that would require more players than are actually in both starting sides combined.
The fact that players are allowed to play both more than proves that 7's is a branch of RU. You don't see Union players splitting their time between RU and RL/football/cricket/boxing/snooker etc now do you?

Amended, except in the case of SBW but that's irrelevant as he is committed to one and does the other to earn money on the side and stay fit I seem to recall.

Re: England stunned by Wales
So Wales won their group to be able to play the winners in the 1/4 final.
The 2 finalists were in the same group - how did they work the pools out?!

Re: England stunned by Wales
That's a convincing Cup win for Fiji, beating SA and then NZ by decent margins in the semis and final.
