The Biggest Super Middleweight Bout of All Time
The Biggest Super Middleweight Bout of All Time
A relatively new division. A very 'British' Division. Not the best fight, but the biggest. Inspired by HBO. Thank you.

In terms of money, SRL v Hearns. Eubank Benn were big in the UK only. Add RJJ and Toney to the list (was that at SMW?).

Yes it was (RJJ v JT)
You're also catastrophically wrong when it comes to 'money' re TH & SRL

Am I? How much was SRL paid. I'd imagine that it was a bigger fight in terms of money given that they were 2 modern greats (ATGs also) having their long awaited rematch.

Money doesn't really come into it, the biggest bout should be regarded as so dependant on the quality of the two fighters in that particular weight class so would have to say Roy Jones Jnr against James Toney by a long long way with Calzaghe against Kessler second.

Went for Calzaghe Vs Kessler. Unification between the 2 clear best fighters in the division in front of 50 odd thousand people or whatever it was. Not a bad scrap either. I presume by biggest you don't mean best.

Leonard Hearns for me the two biggest names make the biggest fight.

Apparently Hearns was guaranteed $10m and Leonard was guaranteed $15m for their second fight. Biggest by a mile.

Re: The Biggest Super Middleweight Bout of All Time
I immediately thought Hearns v Leonard. Even though they weren't quite as excellent as they used to be they were still mega stars. It was a great fight too, Hearns was meant to be finished after that embarrasing Barkley loss but showed some real grit to take the moral victory.
In terms of quality on display? That has to go to Toney v Jones Jr
For action? Benn v Mclellan.
