The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing pictures of Rhys Priestland, Cian Healy, or the special one of Charlize Theron and Gibbo above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Sorry Hughie,
Was off taking the weeuns to school straight after I posted to Dreamer.
The weather is terrible here today. Absolutely tipping down with rain. My jeans are in the tumble dryer just now as they were soaked through.
And our youngest has an "Outside" school trip today. I should have sent her Armbands in with her as well as her wellies!
Tendonitis.
The best treatment is rest. Sometimes we would even put someone in a plaster cast to ensure that they rest it although that would be in the most severe cases. Often it happens when someone has been using their hand/wrist for a prolonged period doing something they are not accustomed to. My friend got it when she offered to make a load of Christmas Puddings one day.
Tell them to rest it. And I mean REALLY rest it! And take anti-inflammatories such as Brufen (so long as they have no problems with this sort of medication).

Morning all. and please.
I think Cavendish has a good chance in Sports Personality. Would like to see either Wee Mac or Darren win but I think that vote will be split.
The only thing in Darrens favour, though, is Mrs Tindall hasn't been nominated

Lots of places have done similar. Theres a pub I know in Limerick with targets painted on the urinals - the idea is to stop drunken men piddling on the floor.

Question for the day
Is there any need for the B&I Lions to still be called the B&I Lions?? Should the first bit be dropped and should it just be called The Lions??
I think it should, everyone knows who and what The Lions are these days so there is no need for the B&I part.
And yes, its mainly because they are constantly referred to as the British Lions in the media and it annoys me

Wales rugby team would be my choice for team of the year, they'll face stiff competition from the England cricket team though. For the big award I'd quite like to see Clarkey get it. Great to see 3 golfers get on the shortlist.

Regrettably for me - Mrs P has now gone to get her jeans out of the tumble dryer as she is worried about Asbo having a stroke (a cerebrovascular accident that is not what some of you are thinking! )
PS Asbo - we are thinking of getting a Kindle for the eldest daughter - MrsP says you have one - which sort? and does the one with the keyboard have any big advantages as it seems to me the only big difference is a keyboard, which I'm not sure the use for (I don't have a habit of scribbling in books myself)

I agree. It was decided in 2001 that we would stop saying British Lions and say British and Irish Lions. Its a mouthful. The Lions is how most people refer to them - why not make it official.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning all. I hope you get shot of that stomach bug dreamer; nasty things.
We're off to Dubai this evening, and back next Wednesday. Here are the Pools. Dubai is 4 hours ahead of the UK & Ireland.
HSBC SEVENS WORLD SERIES XVIII ROUND 2 DUBAI - 2nd and 3rd December 2011.
POOL A - Fiji, Samoa, Argentina, UAE
POOL B - New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Portugal
POOL C - France, England, Kenya, Zimbabwe
POOL D Wales, Australia, Scotland, Canada
Pools A and B have five of the usual top seven sides between them. Beeeetch!!
England have drawn a relatively easy Pool with Kenya's team now strapped for cash. Aussie will be the main threat to Wales.
Wales and Scotland have the honour of kicking off the tournament at 9:20 local time on Friday.
We'll be watching some of the club sides in action on Thursday; that's always an enjoyable day.

Surely saying "The Lions" stops it going down that route.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Problem with them being just "The Lions" is that there already is a team in South Africa called "The Lions".

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Mick,
I think they are officially branded as the Detroit Lions.
My bank have changed around all the accounts and mine has been "upgraded". Basically the big "upgrade" is that I can now only withdraw money from certain banks, which means the only thing that has been upgraded is the amount of time that I have to walk to get to one which is the bones of a mile away.

The Jo'burg based Lions should revert to their previous name of The Cats (they've only been called The Lions for about 5-6 years). Problem solved.
Seemples.
I usually refer to 'our lot' as just The Lions. Although I'm surprised no one has taken umbrage at that name seeing as the lion is mainly part of English and Scottish heraldry.

Hound, Leinster used to be called the Leinster Lions.
Anyway, it might be part of English and Scottish heraldry, but it's not like their native.

Consider me outraged!
I’m really glad we dropped the Lions tag, clubs in England, Scotland, Wales and SuperXV countries do it but it was a bit silly to be the only Irish team with a nickname within the official name.
Will you be hitting HK for the BaaBaa’s match too Hound?

Hopefully we'll be ready for the WISE Lions....
It's the ampersand I have difficulty with...
So how many thousand kegs will we need this time, Hound?
Also - a lot of urinals will need upgrading. How are you guys at the Downhill?

Are you going Hound? Gibbo and myself have discussed the possibility. Just awaiting some details on costs from Staggy's company. Having a sister living in Brisbane is a major factor for me. I would want to spend some time with her and the family when I am there.

Rava,
We (and by we I mean Trevor and my boss) are heading down early in the New Year for a site visit. We hope to have an approximate tour price by Christmas with the full packages details available by around 6 Nations. We then have a second site visit to all tour destinations in early 2013 which I will be on so we'll be sick of Oz and Hong Kong by the tour.
Also if you don't need accommondation in certain places that should be no probs - makes it cheaper and you can link with with the group after a few days staying there instead of in hotel.

Stag, you've been here before haven't you... in Melbourne?
Will be great to catch up with the group at some stage... before the Sydney match for sure... might even wing it up to Brisbane and/or Melbourne as well.
Are you going to be at the Tahs match on June 13 or do you arrive in Qld after that?

Are people going to making their own plans in small groups for the Lions tour, or to go in one big group?
Just been reading on wales on line that RobGog should be fit for Friday's game for the Scarlets against Ulster. That's a huge boost for us, he was on great form before he hurt his ankle.

Mickado, this one's been on my hit list for a number of years and gives me the chance to do two things I've long wanted to do. See Australia and go on Lions tour. The money has already been saved, but we'll be looking at what Trailfinders can offer us travel/tour wise seeing as my mate and I are members via Ealing RFC.
Right, scoff time then head into work for an hour or so before going to the airport.
