The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing pictures of Rhys Priestland, Cian Healy, or the special one of Charlize Theron and Gibbo above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
how only 8 days?!
I've only got I think 3 days off in December
Mick - I wan't to say that I have, but I can't remember the whole 'mortally embarrassed' feeling. So perhaps not. Knowing me though, I'm leaning more towards a yes....

Apologies 9 days of work.
Between weekends, bank holidays and the company being shut I have 11 days off for Christmas.
I'll be in the UK for 8 days for the meet up and visiting Munsty. And then there are the weekends throughout December,
So I am only working:
Dec 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I got home about half an hour ago and there were a few birthday cards to open, one from my middle sister, who lives in Swansea and who we're all going to stay with this weekend; in the card were tickets to watch the Ospreys v Munster this Saturday! So including that and the Dragons v Glasgow on Sunday, I'm going to six matches over the next two weekends.
Oh, I was almost reversed over on the way home. I was at a red light at a junction waiting to turn left onto Cardiff Road; the road I was turning off splits into two so there was a car next to me waiting to turn right onto Cardiff Road. We heard a siren and the car moved diagonally, in front of me, to make way for a police car. Then after the police car had gone, this bloke starts to reverse straight at me and I had to hit his rear window to get him to stop.

1. that's brilliant about the rugby ticket Lucky! love getting surprises like that with a birthday card.

I see bad driving every day, Dreamer, but I've never been reversed at before! Maybe it was just his way of wishing me a happy birthday.

Update on the Lucien Harinordoquy story; apparently Bayonne will not press charges as the culprit has made public his contrition.Biarritz will however be charged for lack of crowd control and face 2 home matches on a neutral ground(Bayonne? ) and a 46,000 yoyo fine.
...and Happy Birthday,lucky.

Yup. There's a couple of very lose ends I have to tie up, but the bulk of it is done and wrapped, ready to go.

Oh a Movember update before I grab my Phillips. Not a lot has changed after a quite frankly stunning start. Almost as if my upper lip decided the weather wasn't bad enough to justify extra hair growth. Might need to consider testosterone supplements for next year.

I can't believe it's wrapped as well, Cari! Well done! I've still got stuff to buy, for 'himself' mainly. Anyone got any ideas?

ah there ya go then, already on the mend
Just been looking at the NH team for the Help for Hero's match.
Peter Edwards and Jordan Williams of the Scarlets have been called up.
Surprise don both counts as 1. Pete has been injured a lot of this season and hasn't featured for the Scarlets for ages and 2. Jordan is the wonder kid at Llanelli RFC but is yet to get a start in a Scarlet shirt. Huge honour for both of them to be called up though!

My sister lives in the Copper Quarter right by the Liberty, so I'll be able to walk it. It's a top-of-the-table clash, should be a good game!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Can anyone explain why, when a spectator leaves the stand, enters the playing area and unsuccessfully attempts to punch a big, burly rugby player, the FFR may get involved, games moved, fines imposed.
But,
When a big, burly rugby player leaves the playing area, climbs into the stand and repeatedly punches a seated spectator in the face..

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
MrsP I worked as a Sony customer agent for a good while. The Sony Ereader is very good but the big problem is the digitial rights management on it.
I don't know whether its the same for the Amazon Kindle but a big source of annoyance for customers if that sometimes due to technical difficulties with their PCs (not the ereaders) it meant that the books they downloaded were no longer considered "legit" by the device.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
You'd think so wouldnt you. Ah it is really. There are several different solutions to it all free of charge. You'll go online and get a free software download from Sony. If that doesn't work you can reset the thing back to factory settlings and upload all your books again. Or you might have to contact the store you bought them from "waterstones" "WHsmith" etc and modify your account.
I was adamantly against them before I started but I found the Sony Ereader to actually be quite good. As I said cant speak for other companies.

I can only access the amazon.fr,which means less selection and at one time,if I wanted to access directly from kindle, they charged in USD

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
We have gone for the more basic Kindle.
I suspect we may get cries of, "Me too please!" from the other kids soon enough!
Mick(),
Strange that they have different selections and rules for different countries. Why only one at a time?

Ah its all a bit up in the air Glas.
Its unfort gonna have to be a last minute call. The group who were booking Swansea are humming and hawing about it and are looking at a place outside Cardiff instead. I wouldn't need to visit that one.
Bit of a pain in the behind not knowing.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ok decision made. Swansea is off. Glas and Penfro are gonna kill me
Not especially MrsP. Swansea is an unlikely enough venue for us aside from club tours there. For the 6 Nations if Cardiff is full, people will generally use the likes of Brigend or Newport as they are much closer.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
At the risk of sounding like a
Shontayne Hape
Sean Cox
Having read both of these disciplinary reports I don't know whether to laugh or cry to be honest.
So Cox says that it was one up manship why he smashed a player lying defenceless on his back in the face, and disputes whether it would be a red card or not, yet gets the reduction from a low entry point for being contrite and a jolly good egg.
Hape gets the book thrown at him and time added to the ban because somebody else has previously made a bad tackle in another game.
And on both occasions the disciplinary officer refuses to take into the account the referees opinion having had the opportunity to review the footage.
The disciplinary processes in our great sport are a complete farce I am afraid.
I don't know why I bother reading the disciplinary reports to be honest as they invariably wind me up, much as sentencing hearings in criminal court tend to as well.

Servat will probably be joined by Barcella at Toulon ,Stag.I was alittle surprised,I thought Boudjellal would have gone for Szarzewski;he's also free at the end of the season, and much younger-it's perhaps a policy of good players just past it at international level, so they won't get called up, and the club doesn't suffer.I see the sticky fingers of Laporte behind all this.

She had her audition for Matilda Saturday before last MrsP, but didn't get a call back.
She is currently in final rehearsals for Oliver which starts next Friday at Bromley Little Theatre, and is the Lion in her theatre groups production of the Wizard of Oz in the new year.
