The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing pictures of Rhys Priestland, Cian Healy, or the special one of Charlize Theron and Gibbo above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I went for Ulster, Leinster, Connacht, Edinburgh, Ospreys and Glasgow. I’m strongly reconsidering going for Glasgow now but they have picked up a few wins on the road lately.

I've gone for Glasgow. Our home form is good but we're missing some of our best players and Glasgow have looked really good this season - apart from their visit to the RDS in the Heineken Cup, I had expected them to do better than they did.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ah they were poor enough in the HC but they won there in the league. The last time we were beaten at home in the league was the final in 2010 and before that it was against Munster in 2008. So that's a serious achievement!
I probably should have gone for Munster now that i think about it, a lot of Welsh internationals will be missing from the O's. Still, they're not top of the pile for nothing!

I've gone for the Ospreys. I did think twice about it, but then I thought that Munster might be resting some of their top players with an eye on the Scarlets match next week.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
See I’m hoping that’s exactly what doesn’t happen. Before round 1 of the HC we all have our derby games, which no team wants to lose. It’s a great idea, get’s every team all hyped up and playing at intensity (usually), why should the match before round 3 be any different.
I want to see a full strength Leinster side out tomorrow with a view to winning, and winning well. whereas last week, I thought the team selection was a smart one under the circumstances and expected us to struggle to get win out of the game.

I forget about 4 rounds in both the Rabo and Jeff SG thingy so am now languishing near the bottom, so probably won't bother doing them to be honest.
4 and half hours more work for me, and then off until Monday!!!

Nice work Pete. You got anything planned?
I was considering taking Monday off, have a big weekend of drinking ahead of me, starting tonight with the Mo Gala. Going with a fellow MoBro from work, he’s dressing as a lumberjack. Great stuff! Then Friday is the Dublin meet up for the 606ers, which should be class!

To be fair Rava, you could be right.
My early season plan of selecting one game and going against the grain in order to try to pick up the shock results that can propel you to the top has failed spectacularly.
Ah well, feic it, there's always next year!
Mick(ado)
Taking the littlies to a pantomime on Saturday, then hopefully finding a stream for the Saracens vs. London Irish game on Sunday.
Sound like you've got your weekend all planned out there

My brothers student newspaper is released online.
He's the sports editor turned out well. Good interviews with George Clancy and Conor Murray.
Fair play. Here;s a link if anyone was remotely interested (Munsty might be) - http://issuu.com/cityvoice2011/docs/city_voice_2011/31

Pete, I had a cunning plan one week on my SG Premier League picks - I went for all matches to be one-all draws. Did it work? Did it bullocks!

Scarlets:
15-9 Dan Evans, Iongi, Reynolds, Warren, Lamont, Jones, Gareth Davies
1-8 John, Owens, Manu, Reed, Powell, Gilbert, McCusker, Murphy
16-23 Phillips, Iestyn Thomas, Gardiner, Welch, Edwards, Rhodri Williams, Newton, Iolo Evans.
As you know I am conflicted on this one, so was going for a high scoring draw with bonus points each way.
It seems Nigel Davies agrees with me!
Oh well, it will be nothing if not interesting. Kevin Keegan Rugby, in Belfast, in December.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I can't believe you are all trying to sabotage my footy picks on SG!
I actually had my worst week picks wise last weekend so maybe my luck is running out.
Like the look of that Scarlets team, that's a really, really exciting backrow, although big asks for both Murphy and McCusker coming straight back in from injury and Murphy getting his first pro12 start I think.
Not the strongets of benches mind, but am glad the likes of Welch and Timani are getting a rest. Hope that works out for us in the long run when we play Munster next weekend.
I expect us to get a put up a lot of fight, but Ulster to win by about 6.

I've decided that I want Munster to win the HEC scoring a last minute Ronan O'Gara drop goal in every match Or at the very least in a few more matches.

That bench front row for the Blues will give you some problems Mick. Why are you fielding a weakened side? I know the Snooze are useless, but they are finding some good down to earth boys with a bit of steel. Could make your life difficult.

Mick don't worry I have an excuse already prepared. Blues have a weak side.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Even though I think Ulster will win (especially now having seen their team!) I've picked Scarlets to do so on SG, couldn't help myself!
Not a bad Blues side that really, still can't see them winning though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Which bench?
Glas,
It is certainly our strongest available side.
Pienaar is on the bench after quite a few weeks away with a hamstring injury. Payne and Wallace would both start if fit too. Otherwise that's our 1st XV.
No excuses if we mess this one up!

That's the Blues' best side from the players available though. Why not play your HC team for an hour and then pull the cast iron starters off? Keep the intensity up?
